Honest opinions and rank these names

Can you please give me some honest opinions on these names and rank them? What impressions do they give you? What kind of girl do you think of when you hear them? Which one would you use?

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]-
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]-
[name_f]Beth[/name_f]-
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]-
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]-
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (val-in-teen)-
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]-
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]-

Thanks!

  1. [name_f]Ada[/name_f]- one of my favorites! Beautiful and classy
  2. [name_f]Millie[/name_f]- cutesy and middle of the road
  3. [name_f]Beth[/name_f]- one of my least favorites of all time - reminds me of little women - simple and plain
  4. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]- spunky and fun but I really don’t love the sound
  5. [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]- gorgeous, familiar but uncommon, good natured, friendly
  6. [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (val-in-teen)- prefer [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], likely nicknamed [name_u]Val[/name_u] which is a bit plain for such a nice name
  7. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]- love it! Cute and fun! Nickname [name_f]Cece[/name_f] also cute!
  8. [name_f]Helena[/name_f]- okay- sounds very mature

I like all of these but [name_f]Beth[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Bethel[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] especially. I like [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], especially how it looks but the first syllable bothers me because I think of a cesspool. Id personally think pronounce it as [name_f]Sicily[/name_f] to avoid that association. [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] is okay but I don’t like the pronunciation.

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] this, sweet, vintage and charming but with something strong thrown in
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]- cute and delicate, but I can imagine it on an adult too
[name_f]Beth[/name_f]- lovely, simple, sweet and gentle but also tough
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - love this - bubbly, fun but versatile
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]- such a cheery name
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (val-in-teen)- sleek and interesting. I prefer it as a middle though. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] would sound great
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]- love the frilly, melodic sounds. It’s great!
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]- strong and classic, though it has a number of different pronunciations. Which are you using?

Ranked fave to least fave:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Beth[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]

I’d probably choose [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]

[name_f]Beth[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] would be my first choice because it feels very modern, classic. They were names that went out and are coming back in so I find them fun. I imagine just a really cool little girl who is very sweet.
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] are just not my taste because of the acoustics.
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] depends on the middle name

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]- [name_f]Ada[/name_f] feels very current, but still sweetly vintage. A very farm-fresh name, reminds me of gingham and lemonade. I like this a lot with [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u], though I’d be somewhat less likely to pick it for my own child.

[name_f]Millie[/name_f]- I don’t love [name_f]Millie[/name_f] as a standalone name. It feels very nicknamey, and I immediately associate it with [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], which to me is a very homely name. The sound is cute, but the imagery is all wrong.

[name_f]Beth[/name_f]- I love [name_f]Beth[/name_f], though I do prefer it as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Beth[/name_f] is quiet and gentle and classic. Always makes me think of sweet [name_f]Beth[/name_f] [name_u]March[/name_u].

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]- [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] has been growing on me lately. I think she is funky and spunky and cool. I like that it has such a quirky sound and spelling, but still a classic history. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] would probably be my top pick from this list for my own baby, but I’m not sure I love her as a sibling to [name_f]Frances[/name_f].

[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]- Some people on NB really don’t like [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], but I can’t see why! She is so fun and unexpected on a little one today. To me, a little girl named [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] is always smiling. I really like her in your sibset, too.

[name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (val-in-teen)- Definitely my least favorite option. [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] already feels frilly and honestly a bit pretentious to me, and adding the “een” sound just accentuates that.

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]- I love [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]! Of course I immediately think of The Importance of Being [name_m]Earnest[/name_m]. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is another one of my favorite ideas for you. I love how she works with [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] has all the light girliness of [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], but also feels quirkier and gentler. It’s a garden-y name to me, probably because of the associations with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] Parsley and [name_f]Cicely[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_m]Barker[/name_m].

[name_f]Helena[/name_f]- I like [name_f]Helena[/name_f], though I vastly prefer the hel-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah pronounciation to helen-ah. Sort of a big name for a little person, though (but of course she could grow into it).

Overall, I like all of them for you except for [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] and maybe [name_f]Helena[/name_f].
