Honest Opinions of Maude?

Everyone seems to hate the name [name_f]Maude[/name_f], so I’m looking for honest opinions to either make me reinforce my love for it, or convince me it’s not a nice name. WDYT of it?

Honestly, I used to really dislike [name_f]Maude[/name_f]. But I think it’s one of those names that grows on you. Now, I think it’s really lovely. In the right combination, it could be a winner!

[name_f]Maude[/name_f] is a bit stiff- not fun or playful like some other vintage for names being revamped. But it’s still lovely. [name_f]Maude[/name_f] is a strong beauty. Not very fanciful, but practical.

I don’t like it at all! It reminds me of mud and I think it’s super dowdy.

I think it’s one of those names that can really shine in the right pairing. It needs something a little more delicate and flowy alongside it. In the right context, it has a lovely strength and dignity.

I’m not a huge fan of it, sorry! :frowning:

If names could have jowls, I feel like [name_f]Maude[/name_f] would be really jowly.

This name feels super clunky to me. I can’t decide if I like it or not, but when I imagine a tiny tot running around with this name, I can’t help but smile.

I love [name_f]Maude[/name_f], although, as others have said, it really depends on the combination. For me, it’s really medieval and damsel-in-distress-y which is lovely, and sort of light golden and bubbly. (I’m thinking that last bit of imagery was a bit strange and I’m trying to think why it popped into my head… Oh, got it, might be because of a certain visual similarity to mead, the drink!) Anyway, ignoring my rather odd images, I think [name_f]Maude[/name_f] is beautiful, whichever spelling you choose.

It makes me think of the word [name_f]Maudlin[/name_f]. That puts me off it.

I definitely prefer it with an E  [name_f]Maud[/name_f] doesn’t appear as feminine to me. I’m not sure on the combination, but as of right now, my favourite would be [name_f]Maude[/name_f] [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f]

I used to prefer the [name_f]Maud[/name_f] spelling, but recently I’m preferring the [name_f]Maude[/name_f] one. It is a little bit more feminine, I think you’re right. Oh, [name_f]Maude[/name_f] [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] is so lovely!

Thank you, it was suggested to me on another thread  I felt it was perfect, haha. I think adding the e also makes it a bit more current looking, a [name_f]Maud[/name_f] might really seem like her name doesn’t fit, but a [name_f]Maude[/name_f] on an attendance sheet might seem a little more ‘normal’.

I picture an attractive red-headed woman.
