In general, I really like them. None of them are horribly problematic in any way. And you should value your own opinion more that a bunch of strangers on the internet. That said, here it goes…
[name]Cyrus[/name]~ I love this one! I recently added it to my short list for boys.
[name]Theodore[/name]~ It’s a nice, handsome classic.
[name]Peter[/name]~ Ditto.
[name]Blaine[/name]~ Not my favorite, but not bad or anything.
[name]Blaise[/name]~ Ditto.
[name]Demetri[/name]~ On my list!
[name]Finian[/name]~ I like it but I think I like [name]Finnegan[/name] better.
[name]Lewis[/name]~ Also a solid classic.
[name]Callum[/name]~ I really really like this one. It’s almost on my list.
[name]Evander[/name]~ I like this one too! It’s kind of strong but not harsh.
[name]Remy[/name]~ It’s cute, but it lacks some substance.
[name]Lennon[/name]~ Nice.
[name]Desmond[/name]~ Also nice.
[name]Malcolm[/name]~ I personally have a bad association with this name, but just as a name it’s fine.
[name]Leo[/name][/QUOTE]~ This is another good classic. Maybe a little fresher than [name]Lewis[/name].
So my personal favorites are [name]Cyrus[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Demetri[/name], [name]Callum[/name], and [name]Evander[/name]. The ones I don’t like as much are [name]Blaine[/name], [name]Blaise[/name], and [name]Remy[/name].
[name]Cyrus[/name] - don’t really like it, but it’s a fine name. No real reason I can place.
[name]Theodore[/name] - I love [name]Theodore[/name]!
[name]Peter[/name] - I love [name]Peter[/name]!
[name]Blaine[/name] - too much like plain and blah to me.
[name]Blaise[/name] - blazing just seems like it has tease potential? i do kind of like this as a middle though.
[name]Demetri[/name] - don’t care for it, this spelling looks odd to me.
[name]Finian[/name] - it’s nice enough. [name]Finnian[/name] looks like a nicer spelling to me and I like [name]Finnegan[/name] more.
[name]Lewis[/name] - love [name]Lewis[/name]!
[name]Callum[/name] - like [name]Callum[/name] pretty well.
[name]Evander[/name] - like [name]Evander[/name] pretty well.
[name]Remy[/name] - not really a fan of [name]Remy[/name].
[name]Lennon[/name] - too strongly associated for my taste, but the sound’s not bad or anything. I like [name]Lennox[/name] or [name]Landon[/name] more. Or [name]Linden[/name].
[name]Desmond[/name] - love [name]Desmond[/name]!
[name]Malcolm[/name] - I echo the pp’s sentiment. Small world! Also [name]Mal[/name] always makes me think of “bad” in Spanish, but I get that’s not universal.
[name]Leo[/name] - love [name]Leo[/name]!!!
Top picks: [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Lewis[/name], [name]Desmond[/name], [name]Leo[/name]!
I like [name]Malcolm[/name] but as my husband is hispanic I think he will veto it on the same basis that you said! I guess having a kid with the nn [name]MAL[/name] in a spanish speaking household probably isnt a good idea! haha!
[name]Cyrus[/name] - I can’t get behind this one. It’s too [name]Billy[/name] [name]Ray[/name] for me.
[name]Theodore[/name] - Bad association with name, so, NO.
[name]Peter[/name] - meh, it’s okay, kind of boring.
[name]Blaine[/name] - sounds too similar to ‘plain’.
[name]Blaise[/name] - makes me think of some weird paste…
[name]Demetri[/name] - I prefer the [name]Dimitri[/name] or [name]Dmitri[/name] spelling, but I kind of like this one.
[name]Finian[/name] - could be a nice alternative to [name]Finn[/name].
[name]Lewis[/name] - [name]One[/name] of those names I’d like to see on other people’s kids, but I like it fairly enough.
[name]Callum[/name] - Not really into it, but not strongly opposed to it.
[name]Evander[/name] - I think of [name]Evander[/name] Holyfield. Not a bad thing or anything, just sayin’.
[name]Remy[/name] - I really like this one. I’m starting to like it more again since I saw it on an old name list of mine I found.
[name]Lennon[/name] - I like the Beatles as much as the next person, but this one’s NMS.
[name]Desmond[/name] - really like this one. Quite handsome!
[name]Malcolm[/name] - I have a bad association with this one, so I can’t really say.
[name]Leo[/name] - nice solid name. Overall, I think it’s okay though.
[name]Cyrus[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this one! Very handsome and [name]Cy[/name] is very cool
[name]Theodore[/name] – I just can’t manage to get behind this one but I love [name]Theo[/name]
[name]Peter[/name] – I’ve never liked this one. It sounds whiney to me, but I’m sure it’s a perfectly fine name
[name]Blaine[/name] – This one is very cool but I like your next name better
[name]Blaise[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this one for the sound and the [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] myth connection ([name]Merlin[/name]'s secretary) and the scientific one
[name]Demetri[/name] – [name]LOVE[/name] We wanted to use this one but [name]Dante[/name], [name]Damien[/name], and [name]Demetri[/name] seemed like too much. Very handsome
[name]Finian[/name] – This is just okay to me
[name]Lewis[/name] – I love the soft, sensitive sound of this one and [name]Lew[/name] is great
[name]Callum[/name] – This is like [name]Theodore[/name], I just can’t for the life of me get behind it
[name]Evander[/name] – [name]LOVE[/name] for the mythological connection and it just sounds great too
[name]Remy[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this on a boy. It sounds so spunky and cool
[name]Lennon[/name] – I would love this as a middle name rather than first for [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name]
[name]Desmond[/name] – I love Dessy or Dizzy as a nickname, but I don’t like the whole name
[name]Malcolm[/name] – This one just has a boring feel to me
[name]Leo[/name] – [name]Love[/name] it! Very handsome and cool on it’s own
personally I love remmy. I almost decided on [name]Remington[/name] for my son and would call him remmy…but I chose sterling instead.
also love [name]Lennon[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name]. not a huge fan of [name]Lewis[/name] finian or [name]Peter[/name]
@backtomyroots yeah I do think that makes [name]Malcolm[/name] tricky. [name]Colm[/name] is related and cool, [name]Callum[/name] feels faintly similar to me, and [name]Malcolm[/name] always makes me think of the surname Macomb, if you like any of those.
In my opinion I created to categories on what you should keep and what you should nix from the list.
Keep:
[name]Theodore[/name] - Old school yet awesome nicknames [name]Theo[/name]/[name]Theon[/name]/[name]Thor[/name].
[name]Peter[/name] - We need more little [name]Peter[/name]'s! I assume the male anatomy reference is to blame.
[name]Lewis[/name] - Great choice that is never wrong.
[name]Callum[/name] - Different and [name]Cal[/name] is a nice nickname.
[name]Desmond[/name] - I also never hear on children.
[name]Malcolm[/name] - I love this name for my own selfish family reasons but is still a great name.
[name]Leo[/name] - I love how simple [name]Leo[/name] is. I’m also a fan on [name]Lenard[/name] or [name]Leonardo[/name].
[name]Nix[/name]: Mostly nixed because their not my style and I think the names above are great choices comparative.
[name]Cyrus[/name]
[name]Blaine[/name]
[name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Demetri[/name]
[name]Finian[/name]
[name]Evander[/name]
[name]Remy[/name]
[name]Lennon[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name] - I adore this name! [name]Love[/name] it, it’s great! and I agree with a pp that [name]Cy[/name] is such a cool nickname.
[name]Theodore[/name] - I like this one, really like [name]Theo[/name] as a nickname, or as a full name.
[name]Peter[/name] - classic name. I wouldn’t use it personally, but a little [name]Pete[/name] or [name]Petey[/name] is too cute on a little boy.
[name]Blaine[/name] - don’t like this at all.
[name]Blaise[/name] - same as [name]Blaine[/name], don’t like.
[name]Demetri[/name] - I really like this one and it’s one of the names where I actually like all of the various spellings.
[name]Finian[/name] - not sure about [name]Finian[/name], I love [name]Finnegan[/name], and prefer [name]Finlay[/name] to [name]Finian[/name] (not that you were asking for alternatives to get to [name]Finn[/name], but just in case)
[name]Lewis[/name] - not sure, I think I prefer it spelled [name]Louis[/name].
[name]Callum[/name] - I like [name]Callum[/name].
[name]Evander[/name] - I like this one, I wonder if a lot of people would automatically think the boxer, I don’t even like boxing or know much about it and that’s where my mind first went.
[name]Remy[/name] - it’s ok.
[name]Lennon[/name] - I really like [name]Lennon[/name], and even though I always think [name]John[/name]…I still love it, great association for me.
[name]Desmond[/name] - not a fan.
[name]Malcolm[/name] - really like [name]Malcolm[/name]! I think it’s a strong, underused name, love the sound of it.
[name]Leo[/name] - really really like [name]Leo[/name]!
I would skip [name]Blaise[/name], which just sounds a bit affected to me. I might also skip [name]Finian[/name], if your son might want to travel to [name]Ireland[/name] someday. The term has some political connotations there.
