Honest Opinions On These Names

Any thoughts will be appreciated! [name]Just[/name] a few names I have been loving lately.

[name]Amelia[/name] – I know, I know. ESPECIALLY HERE IN THE UK! It’s so tremendously over-popular but I simply love it. I used to be really affected by popularity but honestly, is popularity such a bad thing? It just means that it is a beautiful name lots of people like, and this is one I can’t let go of.
[name]Karen[/name] – I was really inspired by the television series Outnumbered, in which one of the kids of the Brockman family, the central characters, is called [name]Karen[/name].
[name]Maisie[/name] – Far more popular in the UK than in the US, but really adorable.
[name]Stella[/name] – Also very popular, but also one of my favorites.

Thank you! I know this isn’t very many – but any comments will be helpful. I appreciate it!

I have 5 friends with babies names [name]Amelia[/name]- five! It’s a sweet name, but I’m not sure of the allure of it all of a sudden? Out of your list I like [name]Stella[/name] the best.

I love [name]Amelia[/name] and [name]Karen[/name].

I actually REALLY love [name]Karen[/name]. I’d love to see a little [name]Karen[/name].

[name]Amelia[/name]- I really like the full name, but hate [name]Amy[/name].
[name]Karen[/name]- It seems very dated to me, I know several and they’re all middle aged.
[name]Maisie[/name]- I think it’s cute, but lacks substance.
[name]Stella[/name]- It’s my favorite of your list. Very pretty.

I love [name]Maisie[/name]! And [name]Stella[/name] is my second favorite. [name]Karen[/name] I am not so sure about. Like someone else said, the only [name]Karen[/name]'s I know are middle aged so the name had an out-dated feel to me.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Karen[/name] is really dated
[name]Stella[/name] is cute
[name]Maisie[/name] is OK…but not my favorite

[name]Amelia[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it.
[name]Karen[/name] - Dated.
[name]Maisie[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like it.
[name]Stella[/name] - Cute.

[name]Amelia[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name] but I’ve gone off it purely because there’re so many. Still fine to use it though. Plus there’re a ton of different nicknames you could use: [name]Lia[/name], [name]Melly[/name], [name]Amy[/name], [name]Milly[/name] etc.

[name]Karen[/name] - My full name : D I was born in 1986 and my name was unusual and probably seen as ‘dated’ at the time. Though I don’t entirely love my name I did enjoy being the only one in my school, in a sea of Sarahs and Katies  Since university I’ve gone pretty much exclusively by [name]Ren[/name] or [name]Renny[/name], so there are nickname options too : )

[name]Maisie[/name] - [name]Maisie[/name] is too cutesy for my tastes.

[name]Stella[/name] - I like this. Also a fan of [name]Estelle[/name] and [name]Estrella[/name] : )

I find [name]Karen[/name] really dated and know plenty of people in the UK who are all 30’s plus.
My cousin is [name]Maisie[/name] and its cute
Not a fan of [name]Stella[/name] - quite a lot of girls in the 90’s were called this.
I like [name]Amelia[/name] but prefer [name]Amelie[/name]

[name]Amelia[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] are lovely.

I really dislike [name]Karen[/name] and [name]Maisie[/name] though.

To answer your question, no I don’t think popularity is a bad thing. I love the name, but I would spell it with an E instead of an A to avoid the [name]Amy[/name] nickname. I also like [name]Stella[/name].

I like [name]Maisie[/name] as a NN but both for the sake of popularity and a bit of grown-up gravitas, I’d use the gracious, ageless [name]May[/name] or [name]Mae[/name] as the full name.

I like the “star” meaning of [name]Stella[/name] but not the sound of the name.

[name]Karen[/name] is all right, but I like many other variations of [name]Katharine[/name] more.

[name]Amelia[/name] – In my opinion, it really is way too popular. It’s also very much like the other extremely popular names, [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Emma[/name]. Personally, I don’t get the appeal; it’s pretty, but not worth the popularity.

[name]Karen[/name] – Very middle-aged, unfortunately. It sounds like a soccer mom named.

[name]Maisie[/name] – The best one! So cute.

[name]Stella[/name] – It’s all right, but sounds a bit celebrity-ish to me.

Thank you for all the comments. I see that not many people like [name]Maisie[/name] or [name]Karen[/name] – two of my favorites. I guess I can picture a younger [name]Karen[/name] so much because my inspiration was the show “Outnumbered” where it’s the name of a precocious, talkative little girl. I see that it’s very dated but I still really, really like it. I think I need a full form for [name]Maisie[/name] – any suggestions? [name]Amelia[/name] HAS become slightly too popular and for some reason it started to sound a little annoying…I do like [name]Stella[/name] still. Thanks so much for the help!

If you love [name]Karen[/name], I say go for it. When a name is “dated,” it just means it’ll be ready for a revival in a few years, and you’ll be ahead of the curve! I think it’s one of those names like [name]Mary[/name] that isn’t all that common anymore on kids, but it has a sweet sound and a little girl could really breathe some life into it.

[name]Amelia[/name] looks beautiful but if I hear it anymore I think I’ll scream! I know of like 5 baby [name]Amelia[/name]'s and 2 other aged 4 and 5 years old.

[name]Karen[/name] is so dated, and as a teacher of [name]Early[/name] Years I couldn’t imagine calling out a little [name]Karen[/name] but I do have a [name]Denise[/name] in my class and that’s strange enough.

[name]Maisie[/name] is the opposite end to [name]Karen[/name], in that I think it sounds very childish. It’s pretty trendy right now though if you look at the top 100 names.

I find [name]Stella[/name] dated and alongside that the only association I have is the “wife beater” one for the beer [name]Stella[/name] Artois and I just don’t find the name appealing.

[name]IMO[/name]…

[name]Amelia[/name] - Adorable, I love the name [name]Amelia[/name]! You should not let popularity shift you away from it if you love it.
[name]Karen[/name] - This is a strong name. I like [name]Karen[/name] because it exudes character.
[name]Stella[/name] - I don’t care for [name]Stella[/name]. This is too dated. It reminds me of the old black & white movies.
[name]Maisie[/name] - I think [name]Maisie[/name] is not just pretty, but also reminds me of wisdom. I love [name]Maisie[/name] too!

[name]Amelia[/name] is sweet regardless of popularity, and if you love it you should use it! But of your list, I actually REALLY love [name]Karen[/name]. Yes, I know Karens in their 50’s, but I automatically think of my sweet, smart, shy 20-something friend. Or the down-to-earth and gorgeous [name]Karen[/name] played by [name]Rashida[/name] [name]Jones[/name] on the American version of The Office. Seriously love it, and think it would be sweet and strong a little girl!

I’d love to see a baby [name]Karen[/name]! It’s my favourite of your list. I also really like [name]Stella[/name]. [name]Maisie[/name] is very cute on a toddler, not so much on a grown woman. [name]Amelia[/name] is very pretty too, but I know a few under two’s named [name]Amelia[/name]. Maybe [name]Emilia[/name]?

[name]Amelia[/name] – I love this, though prefer [name]Emilia[/name], and the nn [name]Milly[/name] is adorable. If popularity doesn’t bother you it’s my fave of your list.
[name]Karen[/name] – Yeah I agree with you, this name’s grown on me through Outnumbered too. However outside of the show it’s very dated, I don’t know of any Karens younger than about 30, but I would like to see a little [name]Karen[/name]. My ‘if you’re feeling brave’ pick.
[name]Maisie[/name] – Not a massive fan, it feels just too nicknamey to me, I know a 20 year old [name]Maisie[/name] and it doesn’t massively suit her.
[name]Stella[/name] – I don’t understand the appeal in this, I just think it’s a grandma name.
