[name_f]Amara[/name_f] - I’ve tried for YEARS to get myself into [name_f]Amara[/name_f], and I just can’t seem to. I knew one growing up who was rather horrendous so I’ve never quite gotten past that, I suppose. I love that it’s an alternative to [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (shared meaning, from what I’ve found online), but I just can’t get myself to love it.
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] - One of my all-time favourite choices, I adore [name_f]Ella[/name_f]! It’s simply stunning. It’s very simplistic and I know some may think it’s more plain, but personally I just love it.
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] - I used to find this a bit too tricky to say for the longest time, but I have always loved it. I’m still a little on the fence about it on my own list, just because it took me 22 years to be able to pronounce it confidently, but I love it on other people’s lists. And, I adore the Disney connection. It’s probably my runner-up to [name_f]Ella[/name_f] from your list!
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] - I go back and forth on [name_f]Maia[/name_f]/[name_f]Maya[/name_f]/[name_f]Mya[/name_f]. Neither [name_f]Maia[/name_f] nor [name_f]Maya[/name_f] look “correct” to me (even though I know they’re both totally legitimate spellings), but then I dislike the look of [name_f]Mya[/name_f]. If I had to choose though, [name_f]Maia[/name_f] looks the most jarring to me, probably because I’d never seen it spelled this way until about 5 years ago. I’m personally not sold on it.
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] ([name_m]Lay[/name_m]-la) - So at first I was a bit confused by the pronunciation of [name_f]Leila[/name_f] and [name_f]Laila[/name_f] on your lists, but now that you’ve cleared that up, it makes perfect sense. I think [name_f]Leila[/name_f] works just fine (though I do prefer [name_f]Layla[/name_f]) in this case, and I love the name.
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] - I know this is weird, because I love [name_f]EL[/name_f]- names ([name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], etc.) but I don’t love [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. I used to think it was really nice but somewhere along the line I fell out of love with it pretty quickly, and now I just don’t see the appeal. It does make for a darling NN choice though.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] - I definitely am the odd one out here, because I pronounce it wrong (my great aunt was [name_f]Nina[/name_f], pn [name_m]NYE[/name_m]-nah, and I’ve never been able to shake that), but I strongly dislike how it sounds. I don’t love NEE-nah either, but because my 96 year old (when she passed) great great aunt was [name_f]Nina[/name_f], I just can’t get into it.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - I used to adore [name_f]Freya[/name_f] but I’ve gotten quite bored with it as I see it on NB all the time, and have done for a few years now. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong, it’s still a pretty choice, but one I’ve grown awfully tired of seeing.
[name_f]Laila[/name_f] (Lie-la) - I think I prefer Lie-la to [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-la at the moment, and while I do like this spelling, I can’t help but prefer [name_f]Lila/name_f or [name_f]Lyla/name_f. [name_f]Laila[/name_f] still just looks so off to me, but maybe I could get used to it. I feel like in Finland though you wouldn’t likely have any issues!
