Honest Opinions

I’m not having a baby anytime soon, but partner and I are having fun tossing names around. Since Im not attached too any of these names on a child, feel free to be brutally honest.

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Nola[/name], [name]Maggie[/name])
[name]Arabella[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name])
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name])
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name]

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name] - cute but NMS really. I love the nn [name]Bea[/name] though.
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Nola[/name], [name]Maggie[/name]) - really like this. Think it would have to be on a certain kid because I think its a grand name.
[name]Arabella[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name]) - too common. Defs another babyberry named this. Hate [name]Arabella[/name] sounds trying too hard. [name]Love[/name] [name]Wren[/name].
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - cute. Like a lot but prefer [name]Magnolia[/name] for an M name.
[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] - ew. Hate [name]Arya[/name]. With a y it’s extra tacky. [name]Elinor[/name] is so regal and classy it doesn’t deserve trashy [name]Arya[/name].
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name]) - cute!! [name]Clem[/name] bit reminds me of Phlegm a little. Teasing potential!!?? Good sibling for [name]Magnolia[/name].
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name] - beautiful. [name]Veda[/name] is gorgeous. I picture I stunning dark haired blue eyed child.
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name] - nice. Somethings missing.
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name]!

[name]Josephine[/name] ([name]Josie[/name])
[name]Juniper[/name] ([name]Junie[/name], [name]June[/name])
[name]Winifred[/name] ([name]Winnie[/name])

I really don’t like [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name] together at all. Otherwise I like your list. [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] really stand out, love those.

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name]-Eh, [name]Beatrice[/name] will forever sound like an old lady name to me, I like the nn [name]Bea[/name] though. [name]June[/name] is okay.
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Nola[/name], [name]Maggie[/name]) -I like the nicknames, hate the name. [name]Claire[/name] is alright. NMS though too preppy
[name]Arabella[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name])-I like [name]Wren[/name] and [name]Ari[/name], hate [name]Arabella[/name], sounds like a racing horse.
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]-Eh, [name]Ruby[/name]=old lady. [name]Matilda[/name] just sounds like a character to me, I can’t see a real child named this.
[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] -Not sure how to pronounce it but not bad.
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name])-[name]Clementine[/name]…ugh. [name]Love[/name] [name]Lila[/name].
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name]-[name]Eleanor[/name] is old ladyish to me but I don’t hate it, love [name]Veda[/name].
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name] -its okay
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name]-[name]Love[/name] it

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name]- this is pretty much a perfect name imo- I considered both for fn spot when I was pregnant, they are adorable paired together! [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Jeanne[/name] would be adorable too!
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Nola[/name], [name]Maggie[/name])- not my taste…I like [name]Claire[/name], but really don’t like [name]Magnolia[/name].
[name]Arabella[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name])- I don’t like [name]Arabella[/name]…[name]Wren[/name] is cute when you read it, but out loud I just hear [name]Ren[/name] & think of Stimpy
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]- so cute!!! This is really together. I love [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Matilda[/name] is more of a ‘just ok’ one imo, but so cute together!
[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name]- I prefer [name]Aria[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] for spelling. Very pretty though.
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name])- dislike…just in the same way as [name]Magnolia[/name], both too long, too sweet, to Southern
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name]- Very cute
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name]- I like both names, but not sure they pair well
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name]- gorgeous!

It’s crazy how much I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] half of this list & dislike the other!

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name] - Really NMS
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Nola[/name], [name]Maggie[/name]) - like this with nn [name]Nola[/name]!
[name]Arabella[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name]) - [name]Love[/name] [name]Arabella[/name]. [name]Arabelle[/name] makes me think “arable”.
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - OK. NMS, really.
[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] - like [name]Arya[/name], not crazy about [name]Elinor[/name].
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name]) - like, but I like [name]Cleo[/name] or [name]Clea[/name] as a nn for [name]Clementine[/name].
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name] - Again, not crazy about [name]Eleanor[/name] but [name]Veda[/name] is cute.
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name] - Like.
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name] - my favourite!

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name] - [name]Beatrice[/name] lacks spunk and youth, imo, but I have grown to like it. [name]June[/name] is classic, but I feel like [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name] needs a bit of life and youth.

[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] - I’ve grown to see [name]Magnolia[/name]'s appeal, but I vastly prefer [name]Magda[/name] and [name]Magdalena[/name], personally. I like [name]Maggie[/name], but not especially [name]Nola[/name]. I like [name]Lola[/name] a lot more.

[name]Arabella[/name] [name]Wren[/name] - absolutely love! [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] are lovely, imo, and I love the nn [name]Ari[/name].

[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - I really like both names separately, and together. Would you use a nn? I lovelovelove [name]Tilly[/name], personally!

[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] - is this ARE-ee-ah or ah-[name]RYE[/name]-ah? I know an [name]Aria[/name] who says it ah-[name]RYE[/name]-ah and I thought the Game of Thrones character said it like ah-[name]RYE[/name]-ah so I’m a bit confused. I like the sound of [name]Aria[/name], but I prefer the spelling of [name]Arya[/name], if that makes any sense at all. I really like [name]Elinor[/name] with it. I prefer [name]Ariana[/name] or [name]Arianne[/name], personally–funny enough, [name]Arianne[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is my second favorite girls’ name!

[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] - love [name]Lila[/name] and the nn [name]Emmy[/name], but I’m not crazy about [name]Clementine[/name]. It doesn’t feel very usable to me. I like [name]Lila[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] a lot, though.

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name] - any reason for the change in spelling? I’m just curious. I like [name]Eleanor[/name] but I’m not a fan of the most common nns ([name]Ellie[/name], [name]Nell[/name], [name]Nora[/name]), which is why it’s mostly a MN on my list. I love [name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Ella[/name], though.

[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name] - a bit too much “F” for me. I love [name]Phoebe[/name], though!

[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name] - prefer [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]. I don’t particularly love [name]Scarlett[/name], but I’ve always really liked [name]Eliza[/name]. I had started a story about an [name]Eliza[/name] a while ago… she was [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Audrey[/name], but she was almost [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]! I really like the two names together.

[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Wren[/name], and [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] are my favorites! I love [name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Lila[/name], though, too.

Good luck!

You have fabulous taste!

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name]- [name]Love[/name]!
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Nola[/name], [name]Maggie[/name]) - [name]Love[/name]! Absolutely adore [name]Magnolia[/name]!
[name]Arabella[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name])- Beautiful combo!
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - Again, [name]LOVE[/name]!
[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Elinor[/name], not so keen on [name]Arya[/name]. Maybe because I’m not quite sure how to pronounce?
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name])- love!
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name]- [name]Love[/name]! Very vintage and classy
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name] - [name]Adore[/name] both names, but not keen on them together.
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name]- [name]Love[/name]!

My favorites are [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name].

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name] - Not my style, but nice. I like the NN [name]Bea[/name]!

[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Nola[/name], [name]Maggie[/name]) - I love [name]Magnolia[/name]! The NN [name]Maggie[/name] is so adorable. My recommendation would be [name]Magdalen[/name]/[name]Magdalena[/name], for the NN [name]Maggie[/name].

[name]Arabella[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name]) - I prefer [name]Arabella[/name]. It’s on my own list, but I wOuod never have thought to pair it with [name]Wren[/name]! It sounds gorgeous, 10/10!

[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - [name]Matilda[/name] is classic and gorgeous when paired with the trendy [name]Ruby[/name]! So cute!

[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] - I prefer the [name]Aria[/name] spelling, but other than that I think that this is cute. NMS, but cute.

[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name]) - I like the spunky/classic feel to [name]Clementine[/name], and its beautiful paired with [name]Lila[/name]. I like this a lot!

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name] - [name]Eleanor[/name] is one of my favourites, and [name]Veda[/name] is a new found love of mine. I love them together!

[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name] - Unfortunately, I don’t care for this combination. It just seems too F-heavy for me. Sorry!

[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name] - NMS when together, but I love [name]Eliza[/name]! It’s just not my style of combination.

Overall, a great list! My favourite would have to be either [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name]. [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Wren[/name] came close too!

Thanks for all the reactions!

As for [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name]… I don’t really like the combination. [name]Both[/name] are favorites on their own but I can never seem to put them in a pair that I love.

A few of you pointed out that some of the names are Southern, and that’s totally true. I grew up in [name]Tennessee[/name], and have a soft spot for all things Southern (not country, Southern).

The [name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Elinor[/name] spelling change is related to meaning and ease of spelling (I think the majority would spell [name]Eleanor[/name] if someone said it. And I hate having to spell my first name all the time for people).

I pronounce [name]Arya[/name] like [name]Aria[/name] (ARE-ee-ah). I originally fell in love with the name in a book, and the character was [name]Arya[/name] (it was not game of thrones… it was Eragon).

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name] - Meh. Not really a fan of [name]Beatrice[/name]. [name]June[/name] is nice but NMS.
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (nn [name]Nola[/name], [name]Maggie[/name]) - Really don’t like [name]Magnolia[/name], sorry. [name]Love[/name] [name]Claire[/name]!
[name]Arabella[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name]) - [name]Arabella[/name]/e is too cutesy for my taste. [name]Wren[/name] is NMS.
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - I really like this! I like [name]Ruby[/name] more as a first name though.
[name]Arya[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] - [name]Arya[/name] seems made up. I actually just clicked on it and noticed it’s supposed to be a form of [name]Aria[/name]. I’d say [name]Arya[/name] as are-ya and [name]Aria[/name] as are-ee-ah. A perfect example of y’s NOT being a good substitute for any vowel. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Aria[/name] though. I like [name]Elinor[/name] but strongly prefer [name]Eleanor[/name].
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name]) - I can’t stand [name]Clementine[/name], sorry. [name]Kinda[/name] over [name]Lila[/name].
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Veda[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Veda[/name] is ok.
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Freya[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Freya[/name] is meh.
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name] - Probably my favorite. I really like both names! Only thing though is I strongly prefer [name]Scarlett[/name].

I love all of your names, especially:

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]

[name]How[/name] about:
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Elinor[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
