Honest opinions??

[name]Hi[/name] there- I am pg with my first child, a girl, due in [name]July[/name] and am having some trouble on names. DH is in the [name]Army[/name], is deployed and has given me full naming honors which I thought would be a dream, but is actually making me really nervous

I would [name]LOVE[/name] some honest opinions on my top contenders!

  1. [name]Ainsley[/name] (or [name]Ansley[/name])- I really like this one but iā€™ve had some people say it reminds them of ā€œanusā€ which is obviously less than desirable

  2. [name]Brenna[/name]- This has always been on my list, I love it, but for some reason when I pictured my family in my head I never pictured my first child with this name, I know that probably sounds strange, but I always pictured Daughter #2 with this nameā€¦

  3. [name]Charlotte[/name] (and call her [name]Charli[/name]) I think this is super sweet, but I am worried about popularity, [name]Charlotte[/name] is near the top but what bothers me even more is iā€™m seeing more and more girl [name]Charlie[/name]'s. I would just use [name]Charli[/name] as a nickname, but its still like ā€œeh, does it bother me? I donā€™t knowā€

Opinions?? Suggestions are also welcome!

I think [name]Brenna[/name] is beautiful! Good luck!

My favorite out of the three you mentioned is definitely [name]Charlotte[/name]. I think its timeless and classy and it ages well. The other two I canā€™t picture really aging well (I canā€™t imagine a grown women named [name]Ainsley[/name]). Go with your gut, whichever you love the most should be the one you pick. Good luck!

[name]Ainsley[/name] does bring to mind anus, sorry. :frowning: Also, anal, I can see ā€œAnal [name]Ainsley[/name]ā€ being a teasing term.

[name]Brenna[/name] I really love, I think itā€™s so pretty, and a lovely sound. I understand what you mean by picturing daughter #2 as [name]Brenna[/name]. Thatā€™s how I picture [name]Victoria[/name], never my first daughter, always my second. :stuck_out_tongue:

[name]Charlotte[/name] is a lovely name, I love it a lot. Itā€™s very commonly mentioned, so itā€™s lacking in specialness as a first name for me. I love the nn [name]Charli[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name]/[name]Charley[/name] etc.

[name]Brenna[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] would be the perfect combo imo, you can still call her [name]Charli[/name] every now and again as well. I know a [name]Taylor[/name] [name]Rose[/name] who is called [name]Rosie[/name] by her close family.

[name]Ainsley[/name] - just not a personal fan of this oneā€¦
[name]Brenna[/name] - very spunky.
[name]Charlotte[/name] - absolutely gorgeous. I also love the nicknae [name]Lottie[/name].

I really like [name]Ainsley[/name]. I think itā€™s feminine and kind of sweet while still maintaining an adult sound. It works for a baby and a lawyer. It has a nice balance between strong and sweet.

[name]Brenna[/name] is very pretty. It feels on trend without being trendy or popular. Itā€™s got a lovely flow and itā€™s not over the top or made up. I think itā€™s a great choice.

[name]Charlotte[/name] is one of my favorite names. I know itā€™s quite popular, but I think thatā€™s for good reason. Itā€™s gorgeous, classic, feminine, and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Bronte[/name] is a great ā€œheroineā€. I think [name]Charlotte[/name] is a perfect name. I donā€™t love [name]Charli[/name], though. Personally I prefer [name]Lottie[/name] or [name]Lola[/name], or even just [name]Char[/name].

  1. [name]Ainsley[/name] (or [name]Ansley[/name])- 99% the -ley names for girls sound trendy and tired to me.

  2. [name]Brenna[/name]- This is a fine choice. I think you will always feel a bit odd if you donā€™t save it for your second daughter though.

  3. [name]Charlotte[/name] (and call her [name]Charli[/name]) - A strong choice, but very popular at the moment and honestly likely to be popular at every [name]Army[/name] base you ever live on. Itā€™s classic, as PPā€™s argue, and thatā€™s true, but some classic names are underused and some are very ā€œinā€ at the moment. First group would be [name]Jane[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Martha[/name] and second group would be [name]Emily[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], and yes, [name]Charlotte[/name]. That doesnā€™t make it a bad name though.

[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Halle[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]

[name]Charlotte[/name]. But Iā€™d spell the nickname [name]Charlie[/name] or [name]Charley[/name].

[name]Ainsley[/name] doesnā€™t bring anus to mind for me. [name]Brenna[/name] is fantastic. I like [name]Charlotte[/name] but I think itā€™s popularity is increasing.

Two things to consider. If you love [name]Brenna[/name], you may want to use it for this baby because who is to say that there will be a second daughter. [name]Future[/name] pregnancies may be boys. You will have to decide which is worse - using [name]Brenna[/name] for your first daughter when you pictured for a second daughter or possibily never using it.

That said, if you have your set on holding onto [name]Brenna[/name] for a second daughter, then I think you should select a name for this daughter that goes well with [name]Brenna[/name]. [name]Ainsley[/name] goes better with [name]Brenna[/name] than [name]Charlotte[/name] does which is more old fashioned and feminine.

You could try something similar to [name]Ainsley[/name] like [name]Paisley[/name]. Or something similar to [name]Charley[/name] like [name]Carley[/name] or [name]Marley[/name]. Or an Irish sounding name like [name]Molly[/name], [name]Shea[/name], [name]Shannon[/name].

I like [name]Ainsley[/name] I dont think of anus either. But kids might make the connection.
If your worried about [name]Charlotte[/name] being too popular, as an alternate I think [name]Scarlett[/name] sounds very similar yet not as popular (atleast where im from)

[name]Charlotte[/name] is my favourite out of your choices, itā€™s classic and gorgeous.

I would go with [name]Brenna[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]. I know what you mean by picturing a second daughter named [name]Brenna[/name], but you may have boys in future pregnancies. If it were me, I would regret not using a name I loved to ā€œsaveā€ it for a future child.

My vote goes for [name]Brenna[/name]. If you love it so much (understandably so; itā€™s lovely), I think you should go for it, especially since you may not have another daughter to ā€œsaveā€ it for (even if you have ten future kids, they might all be boys). [name]Charlotte[/name] is a beautiful name, but itā€™s skyrocketing in popularity - as others have said, [name]Brenna[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] is a lovely way of using both names. [name]Ainsley[/name] doesnā€™t do anything for me personally.

I like them in this order:

[name]Brenna[/name] - I really love this name. I think it is lovely and you canā€™t go wrong with it.

[name]Charlotte[/name] - I used to think [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] (it looks better with the ā€œeā€ at the end imo) was super sweet. Now I am kind of tired of it, and I feel like [name]Charlie[/name] has lost a lot of its masculinity due to it being used on girls. [name]Charlotte[/name] itself is a classic name and you canā€™t go wrong with it.

[name]Ainsley[/name] doesnā€™t really remind me of anus, but I do find that the ā€œainsā€ part of the name sounds whiny and the ā€œleyā€ ending sounds overused and tired. Very few names can make a ā€œleyā€ ending sound fresh and classy.

[name]Ainsley[/name] - This feels masculine to me because my only association with the name is the TV chef [name]Ainsley[/name] [name]Harriott[/name]. [name]Ansley[/name] feels a little more made up than [name]Ainsley[/name] (I presume theyā€™re pronounced differently) but I do like the potential nn [name]Annie[/name] with [name]Ansley[/name].

[name]Brenna[/name] - Iā€™ve never liked the [name]Bree[/name]- sound in names, though [name]Brenna[/name] isnā€™t as bad to me as other names as in my accent itā€™s a shorter ā€˜eā€™ sound which I can tolerate. However it reminds me of the boysā€™ names [name]Brendan[/name] and [name]Brennan[/name], and looks just like [name]Brennan[/name] is missing itā€™s final letter.

[name]Charlotte[/name] - I like [name]Charlotte[/name], I think itā€™s a beautiful name, and I actually prefer [name]Charlie[/name] on a boy to a girl. If sheā€™s going to be [name]Charli[/name] constantly itā€™s different to having [name]Charli[/name] as an occasional nickname as to whether it would bother you, and you need to decide that yourself. Itā€™s my favourite of your picks though.

I love [name]Charlotte[/name]. However, it is becoming very popular. I think [name]Brenna[/name] is a great Irish name. [name]Ainsley[/name] just makes me think of Anus. So, [name]Charlotte[/name] or [name]Brenna[/name].

[name]Ainsley[/name] sounds weak to me and names beginning with ā€œBrā€ are all over the place. That leaves [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charli[/name]. I donā€™t think you can go wrong with the classic and elegant beauty of [name]Charlotte[/name]. Yeah, itā€™s popular but I think itā€™s the only one of your choices that ages well.

We were verry close to using [name]Brenna[/name] for our second daughter. I still love it. She would have been [name]Brenna[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name] or [name]Brenna[/name] [name]Rose[/name] back then. She is 12 now. Lol

[name]Ainsley[/name] has always been a favorite of mine. I donā€™t think of anus (never have) and donā€™t think it sounds trendy.

Iā€™m not a fan of [name]Brenna[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] is way overused.
