Honest opinions

Honest opinions on [name_f]Luna[/name_f] Quinzel?

It has a good meter to it and I like both names. [name_m]Worth[/name_m] noting that Quinzel is the last name of the DC villain [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - not bad imo but something to be aware of.

I canā€™t quite see it on an actual real life person - I think the quirky [name_f]Luna[/name_f] needs to be balanced out with something a bit more classic rather than the very unusual Quinzel. I like the flow of the name though - I am
putting emphasis on the second syllable eg [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]Quin[/name_u]zel and it sounds nice.

Quinzelā€¦ Iā€™m gonna say no.

I also think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is a silly name but itā€™s comparatively lovely.

Iā€™m not a fan of either name

Itā€™s a bit of a mouthful.

I love the name [name_f]Luna[/name_f], itā€™s very sweet and whimsical. Iā€™m not quite sure how you pronounce Quinzel. It is a very extravagant name, I think it would do well with a simple, plainer first name so it can stand out and not have its thunder stolen.

I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is a lovely alternative.

To me, [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is no sillier than [name_f]Stella[/name_f], which is to say itā€™s not a silly name in my opinion! Though, Iā€™m positive there are many who think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a silly name. Something like [name_m]Norbert[/name_m] is more of a silly name to me (although some people love it!).

Anyway, I love the name [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. I love the reference to the moon, which is so feminine and beautiful. Itā€™s so soft and rolls off the tongue. Itā€™s so flowy and [u]reminds me of Clair de Lune, which is one of the most well-known and beautiful piano pieces[/u]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] listening to that song makes me want to name a daughter [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is short, but not curt; sweet, but not dripping in overt girlish-ness like [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]; humble, yet evoking powerful images; classic feel of Latin, yet refreshing; en fin, I think itā€™s stunning.

I loved [name_f]Luna[/name_f] long before [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], and I feel like I will always love her

I think middle name spots are the place to be daring, so a name like Quinzel would go better there than as a first.

Iā€™d prefer [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]Quincy[/name_u]. have never heard of Quinzel, itā€™s unique to me.

Is Quinzel a middle name or the surname?

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is lovely and not a silly name at all!

Great suggestion!

I like it. I donā€™t see the problem with Quinzel? Am I missing something?

I like it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] like @mccharlie said, I donā€™t see a problem with Quinzel. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is a pretty popular name, and itā€™s close to that. I love the name [name_f]Luna[/name_f], I donā€™t think itā€™s a silly name at all (it first showed up on the US baby name chart in the year 1900 and stayed there for about 15 years), and I donā€™t think that ā€˜quirkyā€™ names (though [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is close to the top 100 as of 2015, so itā€™s clearly a name thatā€™s being accepted and often used) necessarily need to be balanced by more ā€˜sensibleā€™ middle names, especially given that people unfortunately ignore middle names most of the time anyway.

I like it!

Since Iā€™m assuming this was in reference to my comment Iā€™ll quickly apologise for insulting a name you like. But the thing about emotional associations is not everyone has them (Iā€™m neutral about Debussy although the Au [name_u]Clair[/name_u] De La [name_f]Lune[/name_f] nursery rhyme is lovely) Iā€™m sure you could dismiss any one of my favourites as quickly as I could explain why I love them. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is sweet yet powerful to some but I find it garish and empty.

I think[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is very sweet, but I canā€™t get on board with Quinzel. Itā€™s just awkward to me unless itā€™s a family surname. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]Quincy[/name_u].

Personally, Quinzel is too [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for my taste, but I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is lovely.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] because you donā€™t find it to be silly, doesnā€™t mean itā€™s impossible for someone else to have that opinion. The OP asked for honest opinions and that includes comments about ā€˜sillinessā€™ and anything else. I can tell youā€™re incredibly fond of it and thatā€™s your opinion - youā€™re completely entitled to it. But thereā€™s no need to purposely single out someoneā€™s opposing opinion because you dislike it. Itā€™s somewhat a waste of time, donā€™t you think?

I find [name_f]Luna[/name_f] to be lacking substance a bit, OP. Itā€™s just too light and airy and flighty (maybe because of Luna Lovegood?) for me. Iā€™m assuming that Quinzel might be a family name? Iā€™m not a fan overall, but itā€™s not terrible. Just not for me.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is pretty but with a different middle name. Perhaps something longer and classic.

Quinzel sounds made up to me. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]?? Keeps the sounds, but flows a bit better. I find [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] to short on its own ā€¦

ā€œBut thereā€™s no need to purposely single out someoneā€™s opposing opinion because you dislike it. Itā€™s somewhat a waste of time, donā€™t you think?ā€

???

Is that not what you just did to me? You spent the majority of your reply singling out my opposing opinion because you dislike it. May I ask, who are you to state who can and canā€™t share their opinionā€“even if it disagrees with something someone else said? And on the note of comparison, I wasnā€™t nearly as negative or harsh as you . . . you can be honest without be offensive. I didnā€™t accuse her of anything, I didnā€™t call her post (and therefore her opinion) a waste of time, or even mention her.

Also, two other people on this thread said specifically that they didnā€™t think Luna is a ā€œsillyā€ name, yet I donā€™t see you quoting them, or singling them out. This whole ā€œdisagreeing opinion thingā€ also happens all the time on other threads, and Iā€™m sure youā€™ll see youā€™ve done it too if you look through your post history.

Donā€™t know what about my post made you decide to jump on me . . . but hereā€™s an idea: as the person who called it silly has the right to express their opinion, I am free to express my disagreement of it. You are discussing your disagreement with me. We are all free to do so. I donā€™t think having a different opinion on an ā€˜honest opinionā€™ thread is ā€œa waste of timeā€ . . . I was just stating my own opinion that happened to include I donā€™t think itā€™s a silly name. I was not, in any way, trying to take away from @oliviasarahā€™s opinion which is just is valid as mine (and yours). You assumed I ā€œdislikeā€ her opinion: I donā€™t care what her opinion is any more than she cares what my opinion is. We just had different ones and I wanted to talk about MY view on it, god forbid!

Next time I will be sure to add lots of "to me"s and "in my opinion"s and "just me personally"s so as not to incur your wrath again. Sorry you feel I slighted your friend. I edited my original post for you.

@oliviasarah, sorry I made you feel like you needed to apologize! I just wanted to offer a different opinion, and state my honest opinion on why I personally like the name. I totally donā€™t expect everyone to like the same names as me. Sorry if me disagreeing with you came off as personal, it definitely wasnā€™t supposed to.
