Honest opinions

[name_m]Honest[/name_m] opinions on the name [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] (nn Lexi) for a girl. I’ve got some negative feedback & just wondering what the majority thinks. What Vibes does the name give you? If it’s your name, do you like it? I know it’s my child and other opinions don’t necessarily matter but when you’re getting feedback of it projecting stripper vibes, to that extent, I do somewhat care what the name projects. This has been from strangers & my sons (baby’s brothers) are like please dont, that name gives off “xyz” vibes.
[name_f][/name_f]It’s on the short list. Maybe if not first name then middle, but want to get honest opinions,

I like [name_f]Alexis[/name_f]! It’s a cool name and [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] is a fun nickname

For what it’s worth, i’ve never personally even heard of [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] being a ‘stripper’ name. I think it’s fun! [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] is a super cool nickname. All this negative feedback from family and friends will probably vanish if she is born, as then she would be their primary associate with the name. As always, if you like it, go for it!

Personally I’m not a massive fan of [name_f]Alexis[/name_f]. I just find the name a little harsh in the sound and reminds of technology (appreciate it’s [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] but they all give me a robotic vibe) I just massively prefer [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]!

Thank you for the feedback. The amazon [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] def has [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] ruined for me.

[name_f]Alexis[/name_f] (Lexi) is super popular here in the Deep [name_m]South[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]My[/name_f] years of teaching girls named [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] (and Alexa) has left me with a fairly dim view of it. [name_f][/name_f] I much prefer [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].

I mean it’s my middle name. I’ve never heard anything negative about it. I’ve actually only been complimented about it.

[name_f]Alexis[/name_f] feels sporty and cool, with a sweetness about it too [name_f][/name_f]- it kind of gives me ‘all-American’ vibes, possibly because it’s not used so often where I am

I knew a girl called [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] and people did play around with her name calling her “Sexi” or “Sexi Lexi” [name_f][/name_f]- not in a mean way but it wasn’t because of her looks but rather just people doing what they do and make nicknames out of everything. but maybe that’s where the “stripper” thing comes from?

[name_f][/name_f]

I personally wouldn’t use it just because I don’t care for the sound, but that’s totally subjective. There’s nothing wrong with the name. I agree with @Greyblue[name_f][/name_f] that it gives me sporty, cute, all-American vibes.

I think [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] has a softer sound and maybe less potential for teasing, but [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] is still a fine option.

[name_f]My[/name_f] honest opinion is that most of the time when people give feedback that a name is “a stripper name” or something equally harsh, they’re grasping at straws. [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] just wasn’t their personal taste and rather than accepting that their taste is subjective and you’re allowed to choose something they don’t like, they’ve invented an objective reason the name is bad to try and ruin it for you.

As for my feelings on [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] as a name, it gives off a very modern, stylish energy. I imagine an [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] being sleek and sophisticated, mature for her age, well-dressed and confident. The prominent x sound and the s ending do combine to make [name_f]Alexis[/name_f] seem more femme-fatale than girl next door to me. And while I associate it with the 90s, I think it gives fun, new classic, throwback vibes rather than feeling dated.
