Since the last post went so well, I thought I’d ask for some more reviews - this time not our usual suspects. But you never know, by the time we have a child these names may have worked their way up the long list. Again for those who care this child will be a citizen of the USA, Australia, and [name]France[/name]. Most likely we will still be living in NYC.
I like your choices but would not go with [name]Colette[/name] or any “ette” names if you are going to be living in [name]France[/name], the names are still seen as too unfashionable and dated (ok [name]Juliette[/name], Guillemette are exceptions). For whatever reason most “ette” names arent considered very sophisticated in [name]France[/name] so it’s something I would avoid unless it’s to honor someone. However people in the states seem to love French “ette” names so it’s really up to you but I would try and give a name universally respected.
[name]Do[/name] you know where the baby will be born? I think it would be nice to give the baby a first name from whatever culture they are actually born into and then whatever you like for a middle name.
Also a name like [name]Mathilde[/name] might be a good choice since its highly regarded and popular in [name]France[/name] and its other form [name]Matilda[/name] is very popular in Australia and the US.
[name]Colette[/name]- beautiful and I don’t care about any other -ette names or how fashionable they might be, this name is gorgeous.
[name]Noa[/name]- this i don’t like, i mis-read it as [name]Nora[/name].
[name]Vera[/name] (vehr-ah)- I love this name, but it is a family name so I am a bit partial.
[name]Mina[/name]- Very cute, but I might assume it’s a nn for [name]Philomena[/name] or something.
[name]Ana[/name]ïs- Very pretty
Leisl- I think of The Sound of [name]Music[/name] immediately
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] nn [name]Gwen[/name]- It’s ok, but not my taste
[name]Anoushka[/name]- do not like this one
[name]Colette[/name], [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Anais[/name] are my favorites!
[name]Colette[/name] – I love this name! Very beautiful
[name]Noa[/name] – I don’t like this either
[name]Vera[/name] (vehr-ah) – This is pretty
[name]Mina[/name] – Very cute, and for a grown woman, I would also assume it was a nickname
[name]Ana[/name]ïs – I don’t like this very much
Leisl – Very [name]German[/name] for a French/American?Australian but pretty
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] nn [name]Gwen[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this! I love the nn [name]Gwen[/name] and the full name seems very mature
[name]Anoushka[/name] – [name]Don[/name]'t like this at all, sorry
Favorites: [name]Colette[/name] and [name]Gwendolyn[/name]
[name]Colette[/name] - I like it but I prefer [name]Nicolette[/name] with NN [name]Colette[/name] it just makes it more complete to me
[name]Noa[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Noa[/name] on a girl and no one seems to realize that this spelling is a girls name and not a trendy version of a boys name, I have considered using it as a NN for [name]Noelle[/name]
[name]Vera[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] I cannot decided whether or not I prefer it or [name]Veronica[/name]
[name]Mina[/name] - I love but only as a NN for [name]Philomena[/name], I just don’t think it can stand on its own
[name]Ana[/name]ïs - lovely, I have it as an MN on my list
Leisl - I think it is sweet but might mistaken for a kre8tive version of [name]Leslie[/name]
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] nn [name]Gwen[/name] - [name]Gwendolyn[/name] is nice but I prefer [name]Gwenyth[/name] because it seems a lot softer
[name]Anoushka[/name] - I want to like it but it sounds so harsh
[name]Colette[/name]: Cute and sweet! I like it.
[name]Noa[/name]: I want to like it…but it’s too much like [name]Noah[/name] for my taste.
[name]Vera[/name] (vehr-ah): Really like it!
[name]Mina[/name]: Really like it as well! This is my cousin’s name. She loves her name!
[name]Ana[/name]ïs: [name]LOVE[/name].
Leisl: The [name]German[/name] in me wants to say “ly-sl” instead of “lee-sl”. What about spelling it [name]Liesl[/name]?
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] nn [name]Gwen[/name]: Not my style but [name]Gwen[/name] is unexpectedly nice!
[name]Anoushka[/name]: I can see the appeal but it’s not my favorite. Sorry!
thetxbelle- I just want to clarify that I’m not currently pregnant. Sorry to be confusing! When I am though I don’t foresee that it will be in [name]France[/name]. My SO doesn’t have any right to live or work in [name]France[/name] so I don’t see that we would be able to be there for the duration of the pregnancy - a shame since their healthcare is so much better for maternity!
[name]Matilda[/name] and it’s various forms actually make me think of [name]Heath[/name] Ledger. I don’t normally care about regular names used by stars but I live down the street from a small restaurant he co-owned and in general the tie is too strong for me. Weird, I know.
[name]Colette[/name] was actually one of the names my mother considered naming me so it holds a special place in my heart. I will take into consideration though your comment on -ette names.
Dillonsfan - My SO is actually [name]Nicholas[/name]/[name]Nick[/name] so I think [name]Nicolette[/name] would just be stroking his ego a bit for my taste, lol. Plus it would get a bit confusing when calling out names I think. Plus I like the literary connection and it’s not as obvious with [name]Nicolette[/name].
[name]Liesl[/name] - I’m sorry, complete typo! Yes, I meant [name]Liesl[/name] not Leisl. My fingers got too fast for me! Also, while our child wouldn’t have citizenship, there is [name]German[/name] heritage. My SOs American side is [name]German[/name]. But I also just like a variety of names in general and don’t feel they necessarily have to line up with out heritage. But maybe that’s just me?
[name]Mina[/name] - Yes, I’ve worried that it seems too much like a nickname, but I really just like it as is. I’m not really a fan of any of the longer versions I’ve seen except for perhaps [name]Jessamine[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] but I think that’s stretching it a bit. Regardless, I probably can’t use this since [name]Bram[/name] is currently in the top 2 for boys ([name]Bram[/name] as in Stoker, and [name]Mina[/name] as in the lead character of Dracula…yeah, a bit much!)
[name]Colette[/name] - Cute and sweet, but mature enough for a woman. I like this one!
[name]Noa[/name] - Too much like [name]Noah[/name] for me, personally. I know it’s a legitimate name and all, but I just can’t get past the similarity.
[name]Vera[/name] (vehr-ah) - I pronounce slightly different, but this version is just as lovely. One of my favorite names!
[name]Mina[/name] - Well, I think it sounds nice and sensible, not too nicknamey for me.
[name]Ana[/name]ïs - I don’t really get the appeal for this name, to be honest.
Leisl - not familiar with this one, but it looks and sounds like a boy’s name to me.
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] nn [name]Gwen[/name] - Kind of like [name]Gwendolyn[/name], not as keen on the [name]Gwen[/name] nn though.
[name]Anoushka[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like it that much; too harsh for me.
