Thanks for all the warm welcome backs! I didn’t think anyone would remember me on here!
And some responses and thoughts to the posts so far: (thank you berries for so many comments!)
[name]Leila[/name] - We say this like lay-la. Actually he prefers the [name]Layla[/name] spelling, mostly because of the song, but in terms of spelling I tend to win the arguments.
Indianruby - Yeah, I’ve gone back to school for nursing so I pretty much disappeared from the internet for the semester. Yeah, [name]Sabine[/name] & [name]Juliette[/name] have pretty much been our frontrunners. I do quite like [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Sabine[/name], but in actuality I probably wouldn’t combine them in case we had a second daughter. There’s a strong possibility that we would have a [name]Juliette[/name] & a [name]Sabine[/name]. However, tastes do change!
[name]India[/name] - For me this is just a place name so it doesn’t really work for me. I’m not a fan of place names. I love [name]Indira[/name] in part for the sound (and possible nn of [name]Indy[/name]), but also that it has a nice meaning, and has that ‘endear’ sound to it.
[name]Georgiana[/name] nn [name]Gia[/name] - I really like both the full name and the nickname. [name]Gia[/name], however, I think would only be used on occasion. [name]Georgia[/name], again, just feels like a place name to me so I don’t have the same affection for it.
East93 - I have the same worry with [name]Anna[/name]. We will probably never use it as is because it’s so ‘common’ compared to our other names. I do have several other An- names that I like though so we’ll consider those. One of my good friends though has a daughter named [name]Anastasia[/name] so that one is off the list. It’s really pretty though!
Also, I will be a licensed nurse next year and I’m aware of melena. You’re right that it’s one letter off, but I say them so differently that I don’t make the association at all in my head. But it’s something to think on.
Dantea - I liked your suggestion of [name]Colette[/name] so much that I put it in the second section for reviews One of my best friends is an [name]Antoinette[/name], and my godmother was [name]Bernadette[/name] nn [name]Babette[/name] so those two are out for me. I really like [name]Delphine[/name] but I go back and forth on if I can see it on a child - thoughts? Does it seem like an name that works on any age?
thetxbelle - I actually love [name]Ana[/name]ïs, and was pleasantly surprised that my SO loves it too! My main concern with it is that I often get people telling me that she’ll grow up with people teasing her one how close it is to the word anus? I don’t get it, but it’s brought up a lot. I’ve added it to my second poll though because I want to see if maybe people have changed their opinion on it.
quinntheeskimo - I actually quite like [name]Anya[/name]! Thanks for reminding me of it! I will have to see we my SO thinks.
