Honest thoughts and opinions on Lila

I have liked [name]Lila[/name] but I have some concerns. First of all [name]Lila[/name] would be missprononced I think all the time because there are many ways to say the name. I also don’t like how it would be shortend to Lie. She would be called Liar in school, siblings maybe? Is this something you would want to go through with your name? What do you think of the name. I think it sounds pretty but the word lie is not a good word lying is bad and to lie with someone. Is it fair to set my daughter up for a hard life? Thanks

I love [name]Lila[/name].

Yes, you might have some pronunciation issues, but the [name]Lila[/name] spelling would get rid of a lot of them. Besides, as berries are fond of pointing out, you will only have to tell people once and those closest to her won’t have a problem.

As far as unfortunate nicknames, [name]Lila[/name] is short. Most people won’t want to shorten it further. I can’t see anyone actually calling her “lie” for short. And all names have a teasing potential–I wouldn’t let that stop you!

I love [name]Lila[/name]. It is so sweet and feminine. I dont think it will be miss pronounced too often. I always hear it pronounced Lye-lah. A few people might say [name]Lee[/name]-lah but I think they are the minority.

As far as teasing I dont think [name]Lila[/name] is very teasable. It is a fairly common name that I think most people are familiar with. Plus it is very short, so I dont see her getting a nn at all.

I say go with it!

It’s a pretty name, but she might get lost in the sea of Lilys, Laylas, and Lolas.

I like this names and would have used it myself if my husband had liked it. I have never thought of the Lie connection, and I am usually one to think of all sorts of negative associations (e.g. [name]Sophia[/name] = Sofa, [name]Catherine[/name] = Catheter, etc.)

[name]Lila[/name] is so beautiful but don’t think of lie as a nickname. If anyone shortens her name it will only be those close to her, the name being so short. I wouldn’t let that stop you.
