But what do you really think of it? I keep falling more and more for it, especially after watching The Crown and hearing [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m] calling his wife “[name_u]Clemmie[/name_u]”. Our last name also has a “mmie” ending which I think would be quite cute.
Is it too…fruity? Out there? Cutesy/childish?
I’m liking [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] or [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u].
I love [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]! It’s so adorable and sweet! [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] are very cute.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a lovely name! I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] both work really well.
I’m in the minority on nameberry, but I cannot stand [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. It just doesn’t click with me, even though I usually love vintage names. Not sure why, maybe in the back of my mind I think it’s too childish. Sorry.
I adore [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], it’s definitely not too cutesy or fruity! It feels vintage and even a bit classic to me, and has a very warm and sweet sound + some great nicknames
I don’t quite get the appeal. It just reminds me of the depressing song, and I feel like people would sing it to her constantly. It’s one of those names that everyone on Nameberry thinks is super cute but I can’t see wearing well in real life. Too cutesy for me.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is my husband’s absolute #1 favorite name for a girl. I am torn on it. While I love that he loves it and I do find it rather…bright and sunny and cheerful and happy - we get a LOT of comments from family/friends when the name is mentioned. We don’t advertise this is a name that we are considering, but close friends and family know it’s on our list and sometimes it comes up. The reactions we have gotten are split. Some love it and pick up on the vintage charm, while others think it’s a silly, frilly, odd choice.
I worry that my husband and I don’t have “what it takes” to pull off the name [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], if that makes sense, so I am split on using it.
My final thoughts on the name are that I do love it. I think it is sweet and cheerful and when I hear the name it makes me smile and I find it to be so happy. It’s a lovely choice in the first or middle name slot!
I adore [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], especially as a middle name. If it had sounded good with my daughter’s name, I would have used it in a heartbeat. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] are both very sweet, especially [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]!
@kmelton don’t worry about “not having what it takes” to pull off a name! We got some of the same reactions when we told people what we were going to name our daughter. Some people will love the name, others will hate it, but oh well. In the end it really doesn’t matter as long as you and your husband love the name. Nobody else is going to be raising the baby, after all
This. Nameberry loves it, but I cannot see it being used in real life without having issues. As a name nerd, I know its a real vintage name but regular people on the street, especially in the USA, would think you tried the celebrity [name_f]Apple[/name_f] trend, except with a variety of [name_u]Orange[/name_u]. It would be a sweet middle name though!
This is one of those names that I never would have considered before finding Nameberry, but I now kind of love – maybe not on my kid, but definitely someone else’s.
I’m neutral on [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], I think it’s sweet and has potential with nicknames such as [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] or [name_f]Tina[/name_f] (not too keen on clemmie, reminds me of clammy, sweaty hands). I don’t think of the fruit, I think of the song, and I think it’s cute but not overly. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] has more “ageing power” as I call it, I think it will grow up more grounded than [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] which is beautiful but a little bit pretty 5 year old princess, I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] works well though.
I know a [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] who is a lawyer. She wears the name wonderfully and strongly. I don’t see it as being childish or sickly-sweet at all - just a posh, pretty name. I think it’s a name where one would assume comments would be made frequently, but it actually rarely happens. Oh, and she’s called [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] sometimes, which I find very cool! I adore this name.
