Honest thoughts on Magnolia

I’m torn on how I feel about the name [name]Magnolia[/name]. Part of me thinks its southern and charming and I love the nicknames [name]Nola[/name] or [name]Nolie[/name]. But there is also a big part of me that worries it sounds over the top and almost cheesy, like naming a child [name]Rhett[/name] [name]Butler[/name] or something.

What do you think? Beautiful and underused flower name or cheesy stereotypical southern?

I love [name]Magnolia[/name].

Honestly I think what keeps it from feeling over the top are all the options. Full out fem [name]Magnolia[/name], cute and unique [name]Nolie[/name], or a little more spunky and common [name]Maggie[/name]. The name stands out as much as you want it to.

I love [name]Magnolia[/name] but am not a fan of any of the natural nn’s.

I think [name]Magnolia[/name] is beautiful! I don’t see why it’s any more cheesy than [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Violet[/name] - and I love the nickname possibilities.

I like [name]Magnolia[/name] and I don’t think it’s cheesy. The nickname options are endless, which I love.

I love it and if I could stand any of the nicknames I would use it myself. I think it’s adorable and charming, not cheesy.

I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name]. It’s such a beautiful, gorgeous name. And the nn are endless…though I also do perfer [name]Nolia[/name] or [name]Nolie[/name] to [name]Maggie[/name]. (I’m also southern, so that might also be why I love it so much.)

It’s not a name I’d be brave enough to use myself, but I really like it. It’s pretty and feminine and I love all it’s NNs.

I like it. I like botanical names though. I think [name]Magnolia[/name] feels underused compared to other flower/tree names like [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Willow[/name].

I think [name]Maggie[/name] sounds more down-to-earth than [name]Nola[/name]/[name]Nolie[/name] though. I mean those are cute, but [name]Maggie[/name] seems the least intended-to-impress if that makes sense. And yet [name]Magnolia[/name] is much more unexpected and cute than [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Megan[/name].

It’s actually one of the few flower names I like and would use. Yes, it strikes me as being Southern but not as being cheesy. It might be over the top if you were to combine it with a Southern place name like [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name], but on its own or paired with a non-place name, it’s not.

It makes me think of the boring plain cream paint colour we have over here. It’s called ‘magnolia’ and it’s become a bit of a joke that all decorators on house makeover shows like to use it because it’s neutral.

I love it. To me, it is a subtle reference to my favorite anime, and it is a beautiful, long flower name. I love the nickname [name]Lia[/name], [name]Maggie[/name], [name]Nala[/name] and [name]Noli[/name].

I’m not really keen on [name]Magnolia[/name] but I [name]LOVE[/name] the nicknames that come from it especially [name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Nola[/name].

I love [name]Magnolia[/name], particularly nn [name]Nola[/name]!

[name]Love[/name] the name! It is Southern-esque to me and I love the South

i absolutely adore [name]Magnolia[/name], i don’t find it over the top at all and [name]Nola[/name] is a great nn option.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name]–I’m Southern and it reminds me of all that’s gorgeous in the South! [name]Do[/name] it :). What middle will you use with it–will also play a huge factor…I [name]LOVE[/name] nickname [name]LOLA[/name] as well!

It’s NMS but, I don’t think it’s cheesy by itself. The MN will have a lot to do with it being a cheesy name [name]IMO[/name]. If you add a Noun name or Adjective I think it would be cheesy like [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Summer[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Paris[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Violet[/name] ect.

It’s on my short list and was for sure the name of my LO if he been a girl. Right now I’m leaning towards my other two girl names, but only due to familial pressure.

I think it’s great–it fits into that great category of being familiar yet surprising and unusual. The trees are amazing, too, and to me, a more preferable namesake than delicate flowers. Run with it if it works with the surname!
