[name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u] as first names?
I’ve had both of these on my boys middles list for the longest time. [name_u]Fable[/name_u] was initially a really “out there” choice so I’ve always kept it in the middle-only spot, but I’ve seen it starting to pick up steam at least on the girls’ side. Although it’s a softer name, I still find it very handsome. I will probably keep it as a middle-only for now but I’m curious to know if people think that it could work as a first name for a boy?
I’ve recently promoted [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u] to my first names list. I used to think the spelling was too unwieldy but honestly I’ve just been really loving it. It’s such a handsome name to me. I feel like it’s a well-established and fairly recognized name but not one that you ever really encounter. I’m curious to know honest opinions on [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u], and what vibes it gives off for you.

I think [name_u]Fable[/name_u] could work - it would be a bold choice, but close enough in sound or vibe to [name_m]Fabian[/name_m], [name_m]Abel[/name_m], [name_u]Royal[/name_u], [name_u]Loyal[/name_u], [name_u]Legend[/name_u], [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] etc that I think it could work. It doesn’t rank yet for boys or girls in the US, so it would be cool on both
[name_u]Vaughn[/name_u] is very cool - slightly cowboy, but also preppy. If someone asked me to spell it, this would be my guess too
I think they’re both definitely usable. I would consider [name_u]Fable[/name_u] the more usable of the two!
I don’t tend to go for uncommon word names, so [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is not a personal of favorite of mine, for any gender. I think it might work as a first name for a boy, but unfortunately I can also see people finding it too “out there”.
[name_u]Vaughn[/name_u] I really like! I don’t think the spelling is too unwieldy because as you said, it’s well-established and recognized even though it’s uncommon. [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u] to me is simultaneously beachy and laid-back and also academic and serious. I picture surfers on beaches, as well as grand libraries with mahogany shelves full of books. It’s cool and familiar yet unexpected. I think [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u] is totally usable and I’d love to meet a [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u]!
Not a fan of both, but [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u] works. [name_u]Fable[/name_u] too. I would recommend [name_m]Fabien[/name_m] and [name_m]Valentin[/name_m]
I honestly can’t really see [name_u]Fable[/name_u] as a first name for a boy. As a middle name I think it’s a lovely surprise. But as a first name, the [name_f]Fay[/name_f] sound comes out strong to me and makes it feel all girl.
I have met a [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u], this spelling, so it definitely feels first name friendly to me! I don’t have solid vibes on it. A little preppy, a little cowboy maybe. I see @Greyblue used the same descriptors so maybe we’re onto something!

I can’t see [name_u]Fable[/name_u] so much, but I really like [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u]!
I agree with you that its recognizable but uncommon. It feels like a nicely balanced name to me: romantic but solid, established but fresh, maybe even a little fancy/old-money-ish but also cool and laidback. I think it could definitely work as a first name
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] is cool. I prefer it in the middle.
[name_u]Vaughn[/name_u], however, I LOVE, and I want it to get more attention and use! It’s a wonderful candidate for a first name. Unusual but familiar. Established but never popular.
I really like [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u]! It feels very underused. Our insurance agent is actually named [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u], and every time we talk to him I think what a nice name it is.
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] I don’t love tons personally, just not my style, but I think it works fine as a name. I work in education and meet people with allll sorts of different names and really I have found that most word names actually work perfectly well on people, they start feeling less word-y very quickly. I have personally know people named things like [name_f]Africa[/name_f], [name_u]Promise[/name_u], [name_u]Sincere[/name_u], [name_f]Paradise[/name_f], [name_u]Arrow[/name_u], etc, and all work fine.
I have actually only every encountered the name [name_u]Sincere[/name_u] on men, and it works really well. Feels a bit like a similar vibe to [name_u]Fable[/name_u], so you may also be interested in that.
