Honest thoughts on

I’ve had some names on my list for soooo long now! I’d like to get some fresh and honest perspectives on the pros & cons of these names. Be honest, I can take it.

[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
[name_f]Kassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Keely[/name_f] / [name_f]Keeley[/name_f]

[name_m]Adair[/name_m]
[name_f]Shea[/name_f]
[name_m]Tripp[/name_m]
[name_m]Ty[/name_m]
[name_m]Zander[/name_m]
[name_m]Zane[/name_m]

Sorry some of these are just random thoughts!

~ [name_f]Coral[/name_f] should be a lot more popular, I love it

~ [name_f]Keely[/name_f] - it can seem a little cutesy but I know an adult with this name and it works! I like that it’s an “ie” name that’s a little less common than [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Riley[/name_f], etc

~ [name_f]Kassie[/name_f] > [name_f]Kassia[/name_f] > [name_f]Kassidy[/name_f]

~ [name_m]Tripp[/name_m] is nice, definitely has a distinctly southern feel

~ [name_m]Ty[/name_m] is cool! I’d rather meet a [name_m]Ty[/name_m] than a [name_m]Tyler[/name_m].

~ [name_f]Shay[/name_f] is my preferred spelling because I find it more masculine and straightforward? Ik I’m definitely in the minority with that opinion.

~ [name_m]Zane[/name_m] and [name_m]Zander[/name_m] - has that “Z” cool factor for sure, seems on trend with todays naming style

~ The only one I don’t really care for at all is [name_m]Adair[/name_m], nothing wrong with it just not my style!

A few assorted thoughts:
I really like [name_f]Coral[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Kassia[/name_f]! The K makes it fresher, imo. [name_f]Keely[/name_f] is not my favorite, I don’t love the “eel” sound. [name_m]Adair[/name_m] & [name_f]Shea[/name_f] are lovely, and have been growing on me recently. [name_m]Tripp[/name_m] & [name_m]Ty[/name_m] aren’t for me, but I like [name_m]Zane[/name_m] (I usually spell it Zayn) & [name_m]Zander[/name_m] because of the zippy Z.

[name_f]Coral[/name_f] – This is not a personal favorite of mine, but the [name_m]Cor[/name_m]- names in general just don’t appeal to me as I’m not a fan of [name_f]Berry[/name_f] favorites [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], etc either, so take my opinion with a grain of salt . I do like how it’s an unexpected nature name with a long history of use, though – sort of a fresher revival in the vein of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].

[name_f]Kassia[/name_f] – I’ve always preferred this spelling to [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Kassia[/name_f] is very cool, it feels modern and ancient at the same time, and I love the nicknames [name_m]Kass[/name_m] and [name_f]Kassie[/name_f]. It’s unusual but I don’t think it will raise eyebrows, which I think is a nice “sweet spot” for a name.

[name_f]Keely[/name_f] / [name_f]Keeley[/name_f] – [name_f]Love[/name_f] it! I prefer the [name_f]Keeley[/name_f] spelling as it looks more balanced or even to me. I think it’s sweet and fun, yet also sounds sleek and professional and fits any age or personality.

[name_m]Adair[/name_m] – I like it! I think I slightly prefer it on a girl, but I do like it as a masculine name as well. It feels sleek and modern with an outdoorsy vibe.

[name_f]Shea[/name_f] – So friendly, gentle, and handsome. It reminds me of fields of sheep, rolling hills, baseball, and the ocean. I think a [name_f]Shea[/name_f] would certainly just be the nicest guy. I do think it may get a lot of different spelling assumptions with [name_f]Shay[/name_f], [name_f]Shae[/name_f], etc, and probably will be pronounced “shee” sometimes, though.

[name_m]Tripp[/name_m] – A perfectly fine name but it doesn’t really appeal to me personally. I fear it’s used sometimes as a sort of stereotypical [name_m]Southern[/name_m] name (usually for a classist “hillbilly” or “redneck” sort of character ) which makes me a little wary.

[name_m]Ty[/name_m] – So cool! I like [name_m]Ty[/name_m] alone better than any of the typical full names for it. So friendly, cool, and laid-back sounding. Some people may assume it’s a nickname but I don’t think that’s a big issue.

[name_m]Zander[/name_m] – I like [name_m]Zander[/name_m]! Despite being pretty popular the last two decades or so, it still feels fresh to me. I do think in my experience a lot of the Zanders or Xanders I’ve known have been a little impish, sort of troublemakers, so I do have that association with the name. But obviously that doesn’t mean anything about every [name_m]Zander[/name_m]. Plus, they were more troublemakers in the class clown sort of way, not actually mean or anything.

[name_m]Zane[/name_m] – I know [name_m]Zane[/name_m] has a long history separate from the Arabic name [name_m]Zayn[/name_m], but it will always make me think of [name_m]Zayn[/name_m] from One Direction anyway  That said, I think [name_m]Zane[/name_m] is a super cool name – it has an impressive balance of suiting a motorcycle-riding bada$$ rockstar just as well as a buttoned-up sweater-vested professor, if that makes any sense! Like it can feel cool and casual but also formal and aristocratic.

As a Keely, I can tell you it’s a life of constant misspellings and mispronunciations. You learn to keep a sharp ear for a similar sounding name lest you miss you order being up or your turn in the queue. Kelly is a Keely’s life long foe. The name is fairly phonetic so you’d think it would be pretty easy to spell or say, but it breaks people’s brains.

On the upside I’ve never had another Keely in my class or place of business. None of this initial of last name to differentiate nonsense. Whenever I meet someone who knows another Keely, I am immediately informed of their existence so I know we are out there quietly living our separate lives. I actually met a waitress named Keely last year and tried to play it cool, but I was secretly gleeful. I had always told my husband that being a Keely is kind of like being in the movie, Highlander. There can be only one in a room at a time and if I ever met another Keely we would probably have to fight to the death until someone lopped the other’s head off because there apparently can be only one. Waitress Keely was very cordial. I was relieved as I had left my long sword in the car. Recently my husband and I watched runner Keely Hodgkinson win the gold medal in the 800 meters in Paris. Godspeed Keely, godspeed! You’re running for all of us now.

I hope this helps. I must go now as the Secret Society of Keelys has likely been made aware of my breach of Keely confidentiality. There are only a few of us but we are not to be underestimated.

P.S. My nickname was Keeter when l was a kid.

[name_f]Coral[/name_f]: love it. Adorable. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the direct connection to the ocean. I like that it’s tailored, recognizable, and could be unisex. Overall a great name!

[name_f]Kassia[/name_f]: is it KAH-sia or KASS-ia? I like the former, but I dislike names that place an emphasis on the “as” sound, like [name_m]Cassian[/name_m], [name_f]Aster[/name_f], [name_f]Cassidy[/name_f], etc. I just find it harsh sounding

[name_f]Keely[/name_f] / [name_f]Keeley[/name_f]: I think this name is SO cute. I prefer it for a middle, paired with something more traditional or tailored, like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Keeley[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Keeley[/name_f], or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Keeley[/name_f]

[name_m]Adair[/name_m]: I never know if this is uh-dare or ay-dare. I like the latter. it’s sophisticated, stylish, and cool in a formal way. I think it works well with a lot of names

[name_f]Shea[/name_f]: leans feminine for me, but I would like to see it on a boy. I love the the light simplicity of it. Would also go well with a lot of names

[name_m]Tripp[/name_m]: ok, brutally honest thoughts. As a random given name, I don’t like it. It just seems so random, like naming someone Scoot or Tumble. however, I don’t mind it as an honor name for a third!

[name_m]Ty[/name_m]: love it!! simple and sweet, yet it makes a statement.

[name_m]Zander[/name_m]: a very cool upgrade from the classic [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]

[name_m]Zane[/name_m]: also very cool!! It seems totally modern but not in a bad or even overused way. Also seems very flexible to pair with other names.

you have a great list!

[name_f]Coral[/name_f] → unexpected with a sharp, strong sound, but with a pretty feel - it puts in mind a pleasing colour and connection to the sea.
Not sure if it’s a thing where you are, but [name_f]Coral[/name_f] is the name of a chain of betting shops where I am, which could be a con.
I do slightly prefer the similar [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] but I love the fact [name_f]Coral[/name_f] is on your list.

[name_f]Kassia[/name_f] → sparkly, sassy, and cool, with a sweet meaning and a fresh-but-established. Cons could be that it’s got two well-known spellings (Cassia / Kassia) and two pronunciations (Kass-ee-uh and Kasha) - in regards to pronunciation, I love Kass-ee-uh but Kasha feels a try hard? Not even sure why. Still, I like [name_f]Kassia[/name_f]!

[name_f]Keely[/name_f] / [name_f]Keeley[/name_f] → rugged and playful in sound, it’s got this sweet but breezy feel. It reminds me of [name_f]Keeley[/name_f] [name_m]Hawes[/name_m] so it’s got a bit of glamour to me. Cons could be the multiple spellings and similarity to popular choices like [name_f]Kinsley[/name_f], [name_f]Kallie[/name_f], and [name_f]Kelly[/name_f]?

[name_m]Adair[/name_m] → daring, bright, outdoorsy and cool, with a hint of gentleness too. I personally like the fact is sounds like dare, but I can also imagine if this is for a real life kid, ‘do you want a dare?’ comments might happen?

[name_f]Shea[/name_f] → gentle in sound, but with a confident, breezy vibe. It’s got cool meanings too! I guess people might mispronounce it - like shea butter? or shee-uh?

[name_m]Tripp[/name_m] → snappy, sporty, and cool, with a sort of ‘travel’ vibe or a nod to travel. For a real life child, I guess ‘tripping up’ jokes could be made, or some might assume he’s a 3rd owner of the name (like [name_m]James[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] III ‘Tripp’) but then, I’ve met a [name_m]Trey[/name_m] who was just a [name_m]Trey[/name_m] so :person_shrugging:

[name_m]Ty[/name_m] → love a short name and I like the kind of relaxed, sunny, surfer vibes this gives. A con could be that people assume it’s a nickname for [name_m]Tyler[/name_m], [name_m]Tyson[/name_m] or Tryone

[name_m]Zander[/name_m] → a solid option with a bit of edginess to it, but I just find it a bit meh, like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] trying to be more interesting but still being [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]

[name_m]Zane[/name_m] → international, versatile, and quite nice. I don’t love it (maybe because of a bad association) but that’s personal and I think it could totally work on your list. One disadvantage is maybe the multiple spellings - [name_m]Zayn[/name_m], [name_m]Zain[/name_m], [name_m]Zeyn[/name_m] and [name_m]Zayne[/name_m]

Coral - It’s alright. not my fav.
Kassia - bland
Keely / [Keeley] - dog’s name. can’t see it growing with someone

Adair - love
Shea - eh, doesn’t have a wow factor
Tripp - more of a nickname. don’t like
Ty - too short for my personal taste
Zander - my favorite
Zane - i like

[name_f]Coral[/name_f] - I like it but I could never imagine it on a child, sorry!

[name_f]Kassia[/name_f] - I love the nickname [name_m]Kass[/name_m], I like this one!

[name_f]Keely[/name_f] / [name_f]Keeley[/name_f] - I love this name! I think of the Engilsh track runner in the Olympics, but that’s not a bad connotation! The only thing is that it sounds a bit like a last name.

[name_m]Adair[/name_m] - I’m not a fan of this name, it’s just not my style

[name_f]Shea[/name_f] - In my opinion I think this is a girl’s name, sorry

[name_m]Tripp[/name_m] - Cute! Spunky!

[name_m]Ty[/name_m] - I love this name! The definition of short and sweet!

[name_m]Zander[/name_m] - I prefer it speller [name_m]Xander[/name_m], but I like the name

[name_m]Zane[/name_m] - I think of the ice ninja from a children’s TV show, but without that connection I like it!
