First of all, is there a way to be honest about something without being full on ‘that is the ugliest effing thing I’ve ever heard/seen in my life’? If there is, that would be the most beneficial to me! (Yes, I have had people say that to me, over not so weird names :S)

Secondly, I’m trying to narrow down my lists, because the one I have for girls, was well over 100 names, and the list for boys was over 60. I’ve slowly gotten it down lower, but it still needs work. I’ve taken my 15 favourites for each gender, and would love to know your honest opinions. Hopefully this will help me narrow it down further. :slight_smile:

[name_m]Adam[/name_m]- A good, classic name. I’ve known many wonderful [name_m]Adams[/name_m]. Not overly popular, which is good.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]- Another fine name. I’m not a big fan of [name_u]Andy[/name_u], but [name_u]Drew[/name_u] seems to be the most intuitive nn these days.
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]- Not my favorite [name_m]Ben[/name_m]- name, but it does have a respectable sound.
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]- I go back and forth on this name. I can’t decide if I like the sound.
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m]- So classic. I really like this name.
[name_m]Connor[/name_m]/[name_m]Conor[/name_m]- It reminds me of an incorrect way of calling someone a “con”. They’re a [name_u]Con[/name_u]-ner.
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]- I entertained this for a while, but I have negative associations. It’s not a bad name, though.

[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]- This name feels childish to me. It’s hard for me to imagine adult Haydens.

[name_m]Joel[/name_m]- I like this name, but some southerners pronounce it a little strange (where I’m from)

Sure thing! Keep in mind that a name will sound better or worse depending on how it flows with your last name, which we’re unaware of.

[name_m]Adam[/name_m]- I like but I feel like it is becoming too popular. I wouldn’t chose this for myself or my kids but wouldn’t cringe at it either. It’s just average.

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]- think that this one is super cute!
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]- another cute name! I could see this on somebody of any age, similar to [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]. I like that it’s not overused but it’s familiar.

  1. [name_m]Callum[/name_m] - I think this name is handsome and masculine sounding. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you plan on pronouncing it? Many people have told me it’s [name_f]Cay[/name_f]-lum, but I have been told that it’s also pronounced Call-um, which I prefer.
  2. [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] - I know this name is popular, not trendy, but popular. I can’t help but love the classic-ness of it. Plus [name_u]Joey[/name_u] is a pretty cool nickname.

I am sorry you’ve had rude and cruel verbal reactions to names you have liked; I personally can relate to how hurtful that is and it’s the reason why I only share my name obsession with a select inner circle lol - and online! Of course online, even on Nameberry, it is possible to get hurt feelings because its all about name opinions and people can feel very passionately about them! But I have found Nameberry to be the most moderate of the forums; people usually manage to be civil even about names they really dislike. [name_m]Adam[/name_m] to me is very masculine, rugged yet refined. I can picture it on a cowboy or a movie star, hehe. [name_m]Callum[/name_m] is a little more gentle to me - maybe because of the meaning - but still very boyish. I picture a mischevous green-eyed little charmer - and love nn [name_u]Cal[/name_u]. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is one of my all-time favorite names. I think of an intelligent, compassionate, nature-loving boy. Honorable mention to [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], if it is a family name as I am guessing from your user name? It would make a great middle name for [name_m]Adam[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. To narrow down your boys list, I would nix 1) [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] - because it doesn’t stand out with all the other -ayden names running around 2) [name_u]Mason[/name_u] - klaimed by the Kardashians and 3) [name_m]Landon[/name_m] - because you already have [name_m]Lawson[/name_m].

My favorites from the girls list - this was hard, there’s something I like about almost all of them! 1) [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - to me, this is a genuine classic, and it can be either elegant and queenly or sweet and vintage. Endless cute nicknames. 2) [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] - this name has grabbed me lately, and I would [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] to meet a baby [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the name, love the [name_m]French[/name_m] chic. It’s sweet and exotic at the same time. [name_f]Love[/name_f] nn [name_f]Delphi[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], etc. 3) [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] - unusual and romantic. I picture this on a very beautiful and perhaps musical child. To whittle the list, I would cross off 1) [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - because of the uber-popularity 2) [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - because of “feel ya” teasing potential and 3) [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - possible pronunciation problems.
