Honey and other word names

What is your favorite word name? Would you use it in real life?

What do you think of the name [name_f]Honey[/name_f] as a middle name on an American girl?

With middle names I have an “anything goes” attitude because they are rarely used. I think it’s a nice place for parents to be creative and get away with names they love but wouldn’t be suitable for a first name. That being said I love it as long as it’s a middle!

Some word names I like for the middle spot are [name_u]Love[/name_u], [name_f]Fairy[/name_f], [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], [name_m]Fox[/name_m], [name_m]Bear[/name_m], and [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]

I agree with all of this^^.

[name_f]Calliope[/name_f] and [name_f]Maple[/name_f] are guilty pleasures for me.

I know someone with the middle name [name_f]Honey[/name_f]! I think it’s sweet (like what I did there?!).

I also like [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m], [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as well as [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Holly[/name_f], [name_f]Bruna[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Lark[/name_f] etc.

In terms of more out there (non-nature, non-food, non-animal) names: [name_m]Arrow[/name_m], [name_m]Noble[/name_m], [name_f]Holiday[/name_f], [name_u]Fable[/name_u], [name_m]Quill[/name_m], [name_f]Liberty[/name_f], [name_m]Bravery[/name_m], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_u]July[/name_u], [name_f]Fancy[/name_f], [name_u]Ever[/name_u], [name_f]Miracle[/name_f], [name_f]Honor[/name_f]…

But I’d always wuss out and only use as middle!

[name_f]Honey[/name_f] is very sweet (literally) as a middle name! I actually worked with a kid recently whose first name was [name_f]Honey[/name_f] so I think it works fine in the middle.

My favourite word name is probably [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and I would use that in real life.
I also like [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_u]Ocean[/name_u], [name_f]Poem[/name_f]/[name_u]Poet[/name_u], [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] and Sunset but I think I prefer them as middles

Funny story - 10 Honeys were born in NZ in 2017 (that would be roughly the bottom of the top 1000 in the US). I’ll check it again when the 2018 results come out but I think it’ll be roughly the same.

I think when it comes to middle names it doesn’t overly matter. The only time I wouldn’t recommend it is if your other kids have honour middle names because then they could feel less important.

I like them only in the middle spot. My favorites are [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_m]Wolf[/name_m], [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_u]Story[/name_u], [name_f]Journey[/name_f] & [name_f]Savannah[/name_f].

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Briar[/name_f] & [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. There aren’t any word names for boys I’m overly fond of. My last name is a nature word so I can’t use any of the word names I like

It’s definitely usable! I’m not sure what I would pair it with, but I agree with the anything goes middle name mentality. My guilty pleasures are seasons - [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Summer[/name_f] (but DH vetoes all). I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but it doesn’t sound right with our last name.

[name_f]Honey[/name_f] is one of my all time favourites! I also like [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f], [name_f]Emerald[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlet/name_f, [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_f]Miracle[/name_f], [name_u]Harmony[/name_u], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_f]Charity[/name_f], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Mercy[/name_f], [name_u]Haven[/name_u], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] and [name_u]Navy[/name_u].

I also like a few foreign language word names, like [name_f]Ffion[/name_f] and [name_f]Cerys[/name_f].

I absolutely love word names and think they make perfect middles. You can find my list here, [name_f]Honey[/name_f] is actually one of my favorites.

I love [name_f]Honey[/name_f] as a middle name! & I love word names in general. I like to think I’d be brave enough to use one, but I don’t have any children so can’t really say yet!

[name_f]Spring[/name_f]

I enjoy word names in the middle but [name_f]Honey[/name_f] is not my favorite simply because I have experienced as a form of address used by men in power to denigrate women in professional contexts. I can’t separate this particular name from the patriarchal condescension of (hopefully!) another era, but I rather doubt the current generation of young women would have this association. I just offer this since you are doing due diligence…

Word names are amazing in the middle. The choice is endless! I’ve only known one girl called [name_f]Honey[/name_f] (as a first name). I think it would need a strong unisex style name as a first to balance it.

For girls I like [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_u]Grey[/name_u].

I agree with pps that almost anything goes in the middle, and [name_f]Honey[/name_f] definitely works. I had it as a first for a while, and I wouldn’t be surprised to come across a [name_f]Honey[/name_f]. In general I think word names can really make a combo, and give instant imagery. I like quite a few word names, but my favourites for firsts are [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_f]Kitty[/name_f], [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], and [name_u]Sky[/name_u], and for middles [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Snow[/name_f], Nightingale, [name_u]Blue[/name_u] (both genders), [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], and [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. I also have [name_f]Cherry[/name_f] for an honour.

[name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are my favourite word names.

[name_f]Honey[/name_f] is fine as a middle, but as a first name, it is bordering on adult film star name.

I am obsessed with the name [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! I also love the name, [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
