Ok guys, so I have been wracking my brain with a cool modern way to honor [name_m]Harold[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. Both are so clunky and old man sounding and yet both are important and full of meaning to DH’s side. I’ve thought about [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and it just doesn’t seem to grow into adulthood, [name_m]Hal[/name_m] is too MadMen, and [name_m]Ed[/name_m] and [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] are just too blah. DH’s first initial is J and I have thought about maybe somehow getting to [name_m]Judd[/name_m] which I think is cute and doable.
HELP please!
I actually like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] a lot. And prefer the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] with it.
[name_m]Harry[/name_m] is the obvious choice for honoring [name_m]Harold[/name_m], in my opinion. I also did a quick search for international variations of [name_m]Harold[/name_m] and got [name_m]Aralt[/name_m], which is Irish and cool, but possibly a little too out there.
I feel like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is a fantastic middle name by itself. [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]/[name_m]Ed[/name_m]/Ted/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]/[name_m]Ned[/name_m] are the go-tos there.
Also:
[name_m]Edison[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgard[/name_m]
Eddard (If you’re a GoT fan lol)
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Edouard[/name_m] (Pronounced the same)
ETA: I’d go with [name_m]Jed[/name_m] over [name_m]Judd[/name_m] in this situation.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Ned[/name_m] or [name_m]Jed[/name_m], as previously suggested! Both are much less “blah” than [name_m]Ed[/name_m].
If [name_m]Judd[/name_m] honours those names for you, then I like [name_m]Judson[/name_m] as an option the most.
But, I agree with pp that [name_m]Jed[/name_m] probably makes more sense.
[name_m]Errol[/name_m] for some reason came to mind, it’s not my personal favorite but sounds a bit like both [name_m]Harold[/name_m] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m].
[name_m]Roald[/name_m] as in [name_m]Roald[/name_m] Dahl also is a tip of the hat to [name_m]Harold[/name_m].
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_u]Harley[/name_u], Harlowe…
In terms of [name_m]Edward[/name_m], I think [name_m]Edison[/name_m] is a nice variant.
I agree with the others that [name_m]Jed[/name_m] is preferable to [name_m]Judd[/name_m].
