If you were to choose one name to honor both a Mᴀrcɛllᴀ Mᴀrthᴀ and a [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], what would it be?
If I were to only have one child and already have a first name picked out, what 1 female middle name would honor both people and what 1 male middle name would honor both people?
By the way, I can’t stand [name_f]Martha[/name_f]… bad associations.
Tricky!
[name_f]My[/name_f] 1st thought for girls is [name_f]Amaranth[/name_f] combining the main letters from all three names. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] similar meaning the [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_f]Martha[/name_f] but with [name_u]Mat[/name_u] at the beginning.
For boys:
[name_m]Art[/name_m] is my 1st thought using the common letters from all 3 names very short though. Another longer option would be [name_u]Walter[/name_u] letters similar and meaning too

Hmm, I’m thinking:
[name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] - the sounds of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ and the sounds of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] - similar in look to [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], similar in sound to Mᴀrcɛllᴀ
[name_u]Arthur[/name_u] - sounds like Mᴀrthᴀ, contains letters of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - similar sounds to [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], similar meaning to Mᴀrcɛllᴀ - you could spell it [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] to honour Mᴀrthᴀ too
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] - using the letters and meaning of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], and the TH-A of Mᴀrthᴀ
[name_f]Melantha[/name_f] - M of the names, [name_u]Mel[/name_u] sound from Mᴀrcɛllᴀ, TH of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and Mᴀrthᴀ
[name_f]Mahalath[/name_f] - Ma- start, includes the L/TH of the names
[name_f]Mahala[/name_f] - similar to above
Mahulena - Ma- start, -a ends to match *Mᴀrcɛllᴀ, Hoo sound similar to end of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_f]Malou[/name_f] - end sound of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], Ma- of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ etc/
[name_m]Manuel[/name_m] - Ma- start, the UU sound of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_f]El[/name_f] of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ

It’s not an established name that I know of, but I think Mathella would be lovely! I would pronounce it muh-THELL-ah rather than “math-ella”.
Otherwise maybe…
[name_f]Mattea[/name_f] / [name_f]Mathea[/name_f] / [name_f]Matea[/name_f] (“A” ending of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ and Mᴀrthᴀ, feminization of Matthew)
[name_f]Martie[/name_f] (Mar of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ and Mᴀrthᴀ + strong T sound)
[name_u]Mattie[/name_u] (could be short for Mᴀrthᴀ or Matthew)
Marcellu (Sardinian variant of Mᴀrcɛl, shares “oo” ending of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] (admittedly not 100% sure how this is pronounced but I think it does end in that sound?))
[name_f]Mattel[/name_f] (Matt + “ell” sound of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ)
[name_f]Marilou[/name_f] (“Mar” start of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ and Mᴀrthᴀ with the “oo” ending sound of Matthew)
[name_f]Em[/name_f] / [name_f]Emme[/name_f] (honors the M initial)
[name_f]Emmy[/name_f] / [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] / [name_f]Emi[/name_f] (honors the M initial)
[name_f]Martella[/name_f] (“ella” of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ, “mart” of Mᴀrthᴀ, strong T sound ties into Matthew)
[name_f]Metella[/name_f] (“ella” of Mᴀrcɛllᴀ, “met” is close to Matt)
