Not expecting right now. Just gathering ideas and thoughts.
We don’t follow a set pattern with the names on our list. Some have meaning, others we just like. Still, part of me has been trying to find a way of doing what we did with our son’s middle name.
We combined my late grandfather’s name and my BIL’s name. Actually, we found a common form of them. It worked brilliantly and is part of what I love so much about his name.
On that note, not much else lines up so well for another name. I have had Maren on my list, to honor my sisters’ middle names (Marie and Morgan). It struck me today that Meredith may give us more of what we’re looking for. It would incorporate my sisters’ middle names as well as my other BIL, “Jareth”.
Would that make sense? I realize Meredith is more obviously “Maren” and “Jareth” than the girls’ middles and BIL’s name. It could work though. I really like Maren more so I’m not 100% tied to Meredith. I just wanted to see what my fellow Berries thought. Feel free to be honest and/or to give suggestions.
I slightly prefer [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] over [name_f]Maren[/name_f].
Does [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (or a variation) work? [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] → [name_f]Mar[/name_f]ie, [name_u]Mo[/name_u]rgan, Jareth. Maybe a huge stretch? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f], with the J from [name_m]Jareth[/name_m] and “or” from [name_u]Morgan[/name_u]?
[name_u]Marie[/name_u] and [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] both have (at least theorized) meanings related to the sea. If you like the idea of a shared meaning as an honor then a sea related name might work. [name_m]Jareth[/name_m] is a combination name with one of the names meaning “gentleness” and [name_m]Clement[/name_m] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] share its meaning.
I think I prefer [name_f]Maren[/name_f] in all honesty. It’s not that common and is also not overly feminine or masculine so I think it’s a perfect balance
