Honor names

I’m not having a kid anytime soon but I’d like some help coming up with honor names if thats still ok. [name_f]My[/name_f] last name starts with an [name_f]Ell[/name_f] sound but one of the people I want to honor is an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Any ideas for names that could honor her without starting with el?

Also, I’d really like to honor a [name_u]Michael[/name_u] but that name is super overdone and I don’t want my kid to have the same name as tons of other people in my family. Any ideas for that too (that AREN’T [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] for a girl)?

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this…

Isabel
[name_u]Lisa[/name_u]
[name_f]Lizbet[/name_f]

Micah
[name_f]Miley[/name_f]
[name_u]Miles[/name_u]

Elizabeth has approximately 19million diminutives.
[name_f]Bessie[/name_f], [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Bizzy[/name_f], Birdy, [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], etc all come from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. There are combo names like [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Marybeth[/name_f], and so on.

For [name_u]Michael[/name_u] there’s [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], but I think that has the same “el” sound issue as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Unfortunately I don’t know any other names on this front.

What about their middle names? Could you pull from those?

Also, what’s your non-honor name style?

Michael’s middle name was [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]’s was [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f].

I like a lot of mythological or space themed names, and I also prefer longer names over shorter ones if that helps? I’m not sure how to pronounce [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but it looks pretty. I also like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] but it’s one of my cousins names.

I also heard [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] was derived from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], so maybe [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f] or [name_f]Sable[/name_f] (as nn)?
Not so sure on the [name_u]Michael[/name_u] debacle.
[name_f]Michelle[/name_f]?
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]?
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]?

Isabel and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] kind of run into my last name, but they’re pretty. I never realized [name_f]Sable[/name_f] could be a nickname for [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].

And I like [name_f]Millie[/name_f]!

Me neither; just came up with it!

For [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], I’d look at names including “beth” prefixes/suffixes like [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Marybeth[/name_f], etc. Also, maybe something like [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] or [name_f]Lissa[/name_f]?

For girl names honoring [name_u]Michael[/name_u], my top would be something like Micarah, [name_u]Misha[/name_u], [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_u]Shelly[/name_u] (following from [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] - maybe not connected enough, but a thought).

Alternatively, consider a name that shares a meaning rather than sound. Im not well versed in that area, so I don’t have specific suggestions.

What about [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] to honor both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]'s names! For [name_m]Micheal[/name_m], I thought of [name_f]Michalina[/name_f] and Miguel.

Michael: [name_f]Mieke[/name_f], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], [name_m]Mikel[/name_m], [name_f]Miki[/name_f], [name_u]Mickey[/name_u]

James: [name_u]Jamison[/name_u], [name_u]Jameson[/name_u]

Elizabeth: [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (it’s a rearrangement of the letters for [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], a diminutive of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]), any one of the multitude of variations of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would work

Suzanne (lily): [name_f]Aine[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Ana[/name_f], [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], Isana, [name_f]Madelief[/name_f], [name_f]Sanna[/name_f], [name_f]Sanne[/name_f], [name_f]Shanna[/name_f], [name_f]Shana[/name_f], [name_f]Sunna[/name_f], [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f]

Suzanne + [name_u]Michael[/name_u]: [name_f]Annemieke[/name_f]

Elizabeth + [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]: [name_f]Analisa[/name_f], [name_f]Analise[/name_f], [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]

Elizabeth, historically, has had loads of great nicknames, which would definitely make great standalones! Lizzie, Libby, Birdie, Betty, Betsy, Bess, Liza, Bee, Nell, Beth, Izzie, Lilibet, or Etta. You could also use Isabel and variants, but the el sound at the end might run into your surname. How about Isabella or Isabetta? For a Michael, I would recommend Micah or Malachi!

To honor [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] I think [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] would be really special and is nice and long like you prefer. It’s also the name of the daughter of [name_f]Athena[/name_f] one the [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] series. From [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] you could also get [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f] which feels a bit out there in a good way.

St. [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is the leader of God’s army so you might be able to stretch that to other legendary war commanders. [name_f]My[/name_f] mind immediately goes to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] the Great, but you seem to like names a bit more ~out there~. I’d love to be able to suggest some leaders from [name_m]Greco[/name_m]-[name_m]Roman[/name_m] myth, but I haven’t studied it much. [name_u]James[/name_u] is also a great name, but I take its not really your style.
