[name_f]Darlene[/name_f] is the only feminine name in my family that I haven’t really found a perfect honor for. I don’t mind the name itself especially as it reminds me of the person I’m close to, but I’m a little more modern in my name style and would like to find something I can add to my list to honor her.
The problem is I don’t really like names that start with Dar- or any that end in -arlene. I suppose getting -dar- in the middle or simply ending in -lene could work but no names I’ve seen yet have struck me as right up my alley. I do have Shaylene on my middle name list as a direct honor to someone else, but would like to find [name_f]Darlene[/name_f] her own honor name, if that makes sense?
If you had to honor a [name_f]Darlene[/name_f] without using a name that starts with Dar- or ends in -arlene, which direction would you go?
Maybe [name_f]Cherie[/name_f] or [name_f]Cariad[/name_f] based on the the meaning (or I’d use [name_f]Darling[/name_f] as a quirky middle but that’s another dar- name!)
I asked her about the origin of her name (because, y’know… name nerd) and she said when she was born her father thought she looked so DARLING so he named her [name_f]Darlene[/name_f]. I don’t know if [name_f]Darling[/name_f] is up my alley, but I like the idea of [name_f]Cherie[/name_f] to tie into that!
[name_f]Darla[/name_f] and [name_u]Darby[/name_u] came to mind! I think [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (Lee-na) would work to!
Does [name_f]Darlene[/name_f] have a middle or last name that you could use? We used [name_u]Davis[/name_u] to honor my MIL (her maiden name) and my dad whose middle name is [name_u]David[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] BIL is also named [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] which was his grandmother’s maiden name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought!
Omg this just reminded me that I said I don’t like Dar- names but I literally have [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] on my list Which totally actually works. [name_u]Darby[/name_u] is really fun too though!
Her middle name is basic, just [name_f]Ann[/name_f]. There is something to potentially be explored with her maiden name too (won’t put here for privacy reasons), but probably more so for boys. That’s a good idea, I forgot about last names!
