Hello everyone,
I think for my first future daughter I would like to go with the middle name [name_f]Moira[/name_f] it’s honoring my great grandma who passed away back in 2008 and I was only 8 or 9 when she died and I want her memory to live on. I was pretty close with my great grandma I used to visit her and drop in every day after school and I would raid her larder and she would give me sweets and I lit a candle at her funeral and my cheeks were all red and puffy from were I was crying. I like the name [name_f]Moira[/name_f] a lot so what do you guys think of the name and the whole honoring my great grandma thing? And her first name would be [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] (with this name spelling variation as I prefer that way of spelling it). So is [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] [name_f]Moira[/name_f] a good name?
What are your opinions?
I would love to hear them!
I love [name_f]Moira[/name_f]! I really prefer [name_f]Moira[/name_f] [name_u]Shannon[/name_u].
[name_f]Moira[/name_f] is a very pretty name! It’s important to you, so you should use it! I also prefer [name_f]Moira[/name_f] [name_u]Shannon[/name_u]/[name_u]Shannen[/name_u]. Great choice!
I prefer [name_f]Moira[/name_f] [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] as well
[name_f]Moira[/name_f] is lovely, and the family connection is nice to have.
The thing I wanted to point out about [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] (while it’s a perfectly fine name): looking at the SSA info the only year [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] (this spelling) was in the top 1000 was 1993, and [name_u]Shannon[/name_u] (the “-on” spelling for girls) has fallen far in popularity. It was most popular from about 1973-1997 and has since fallen to #922. While popularity isn’t everything, and different names can be more or less popular in different areas, the effect this could have is that [name_u]Shannon[/name_u]/[name_u]Shannen[/name_u] will seem like a “mom name” - a name given to people in a child’s parents’ generation much more often than it’s given to kids in the child’s own generation. It would be like a millennial being named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] or [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] or [name_f]Linda[/name_f] - nothing wrong with any of these names, but they definitely seem like they belong to a different generation than the Jennifers, Jessicas and Ashleys. Maybe this doesn’t matter to you, and [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] is in itself a perfectly OK name, but I just wanted you to be aware of it.
^^She’s in the UK so the SSA doesn’t apply to her.
I like the meaning so much. [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] [name_f]Moira[/name_f] or [name_f]Moira[/name_f] [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] sound lovely. I think I like another of your signature names as a first a touch better - [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Moira[/name_f], just because I like the flow…
I think [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] [name_f]Moira[/name_f] is nice. I think [name_f]Moira[/name_f] [name_u]Shannen[/name_u] is extremely gorgeous. I tried to convince my DH to let us use [name_f]Moira[/name_f] for our little girl who is coming later this year, but no such luck. Lol.
I too like it reversed better.
