My grandfather [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] “[name_m]Allen[/name_m]” is very dear to me and I would love to have some names to honor him! What names are similar or have a similar meaning? Any help/suggestions would be wonderful!
Well of course you have
[name_m]Abe[/name_m],[name_m]Bram[/name_m], [name_m]Braham[/name_m], [name_m]Abram[/name_m],
With [name_m]Allen[/name_m], I think you could use [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], as they both nickname to [name_m]Al[/name_m].
Or [name_m]Len[/name_m], [name_m]Lenny[/name_m]?
[name_u]Glen[/name_u] would work too I think…
Aleander…
[name_m]Allen[/name_m] means handsome…
there is so many names with this same meaning…
[name_m]Beau[/name_m]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_m]Keefer[/name_m]
[name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]
[name_m]Kevin[/name_m]
One of [name_m]Allen[/name_m]'s meanings is [name_u]Harmony[/name_u]…
Other names that mean [name_u]Harmony[/name_u]
Iban
[name_m]Levin[/name_m]
In the bible [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]'s son is [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], so that could be an option…
[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]…would closely connotate to [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] as well… [name_m]Link[/name_m]??
My first thoughts were [name_m]Callen[/name_m] and [name_m]Abram[/name_m]/[name_m]Bram[/name_m].
[name_m]Allen[/name_m] I would consider simply respelling - [name_m]Alan[/name_m] has cleaner lines and I kind of really like it. One could also argue that the current decade’s answer to the midcentury’s [name_m]Allen[/name_m], is [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]…? [name_m]Alan[/name_m] and [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] are both Gaelic but one is rather retro and one of the moment.
I like [name_m]Avram[/name_m] and [name_u]Avi[/name_u]. [name_u]Avi[/name_u] stands alone well, too.
I don’t mind [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] itself if the NN is [name_m]Bram[/name_m] rather than [name_m]Abe[/name_m].
One of my favourite A names - if all you want is alliteration - is [name_u]August[/name_u], which has a modern sound but has actually been in the Top 1000 since 1880, and is more classic than it’s generally perceived.
[name_m]Abel[/name_m] might work
