Honoring Anita

[name_f]My[/name_f] S/O’s mother passed away last month. He and I aren’t having children for a few more years at least, but I suspect that honoring her will be part of the naming process when it does happen, I just want a head start. I’m looking for any way to honor her or her name without actually using her name. Her father is from [name_f]India[/name_f] and her mother is from [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. Her parents and both she and her brother all have names that start An-. The meaning of [name_f]Anita[/name_f] is grace. Looking for any and all suggestions. Thank you in advance

Funny enough, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is actually her mother’s name. I hadn’t thought about N names before, so thank you very much! I really like the idea of [name_f]Nina[/name_f], it reminds me of her name, but also her parents’ names.

I like [name_f]Rita[/name_f] and [name_f]Vita[/name_f]. [name_f]Rita[/name_f] also reminds me of my maternal grandmother’s name, Loretta; and [name_f]Vita[/name_f] is unexpected, but not enough that you wouldn’t be able to make the connection.

[name_f]Annie[/name_f] has been growing on me more every day!

I’m very drawn to both [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] and [name_f]Annot[/name_f]. I really like the male suggestions as well, especially [name_m]Esmond[/name_m]. [name_m]Anton[/name_m] is the name of her brother, which is another reason I like [name_f]Annot[/name_f] so much.

[name_f]Anette[/name_f] / [name_f]Annette[/name_f]
Avan or [name_u]Evan[/name_u]

[name_f]Annika[/name_f] / [name_f]Anika[/name_f]
[name_f]Annette[/name_f] / [name_f]Aneta[/name_f] (can be a combo for [name_f]Anita[/name_f] and Loretta)

Thanks everyone for so many suggestions!

@LouC I just really like the name [name_f]Anais[/name_f]. And I also like [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] and [name_m]Vito[/name_m] as honor names.

@Victory55 [name_f]Annetta[/name_f] is literally a mashup of our maternal grandmothers. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] on his side and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] on my side.

@KaiLun What a great list of suggestions! So many of these are already in my list of names that I like generally, but I wouldn’t have thought of them as honor names on my own.

This may be alittle too on the nose, but I came across Amanita the other day, and think it’s so beautiful!
