Expecting our last baby, a girl, and we want to honor a family [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] in the middle spot. Neither my husband or I like the name [name_f]Bernice[/name_f]. We’re considering [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and [name_f]Bernessa[/name_f], but I wonder if there are any other names to consider?
We are not totally settled on a first name yet, but the only name in the running right now is [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f].
[name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is an absolutely magnificent name! She’s so full of life and light! I’m a huge fan of that name. 
I think [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] or [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] would be especially sweet picks. However, with a name as cool as [name_u]Bernie[/name_u], there are all sorts of options! Here are some ideas for your honor name:

I hadn’t thought of [name_f]Bernarda[/name_f], but it’s interesting to me. If she had been a boy it would have been [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] hands down, I actually love the name [name_m]Bernard[/name_m]. I suggested gender bending it but my hubby is totally against it haha. I also like the idea of [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], and [name_f]Betty[/name_f] I’ll have to think on those.
How about [name_f]Bridie[/name_f], [name_f]Bernina[/name_f] or [name_f]Bernita[/name_f]? [name_f]Bridie[/name_f] is my sister’s name, which is why it sprang to mind. People often misread it as [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], I’ll warn you! All three have great meanings.

I like the idea of [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] I think this name is gorgeous bright and unexpected. You’ve had so many wonderful suggestions what I was thinking was to honour ‘Bernie’ by using a name that has the same meaning. [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] means strong; strong like a bear other names with similar meanings

I really like the name [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] but it feels too much next to [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] - they’re both big names. If it were a first, you could nickname [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_u]Bennie[/name_u] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f].
You could also try rearranging the letters of [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] to find something you may like. It may not be a super obvious honour doing this option but it’s another thought.

Thank you so much all! I appreciate all the ideas and new avenues! I will say I’m not a big fan or [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] for some reason, probably because I gravitate toward the melodious names. And our last name is 3 letters 1 syllable, so I can get away with it! Haha.
I’m definitely bringing some of these up to my husband tonight though! Like [name_f]Bernadine[/name_f], I can’t believe that hadn’t crossed my mind
