Alright Berries, I need your advice. I’d really love to somehow honor my grandparents in my children’s names, but unfortunately none of their names are really my style, nor are all that currently usable. My paternal grandparents were [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Shirley[/name] and my maternal grandparents were [name]Robert[/name] and [name]Mildred[/name]. I’m more concerned about girls names than boys names and I really appreciate your help
My paternal grandfather is also called [name]Frank[/name] and I thought about using [name]Francis[/name] to honour him, and for [name]Shirley[/name] maybe a name with the same meaning like [name]Niamh[/name] [name]Waverly[/name]. Maybe for [name]Robert[/name] you could use [name]Rupert[/name] or [name]Robin[/name] instead, and for [name]Mildred[/name] maybe [name]Mila[/name], [name]Millie[/name], [name]Millicent[/name] or something with a similar meaning.
Alternatively, you could always use the same initials, or use the same middle name as one of your grandparents. You could also, use their surname as a middle or first name.
Well, there is lots you could do with [name]Mildred[/name]:
[name]Millie[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] (This is actually kind of a mix of [name]Mildred[/name] and [name]Shirley[/name]! I know its pretty popular though. : /)
I’m having trouble thinking of names to honor [name]Shirley[/name]…maybe you could do something that has the same meaning? [name]Shirley[/name] means bright meadow…[name]Ainsley[/name] means “one’s own meadow” Maybe?
Would you consider honoring a grandfather in a girl’s name? Because [name]Robin[/name] or [name]Francesca[/name] could be options for that!
Haha, I didn’t see the previous post before I posted, so forgive some of the repeat ideas!
