Honoring Grandmothers...HELP!!

If I had kids, I would want at least one of them to have a name that is honouring their elders.

Can you help me?

My great grandmothers:

[name]Gwendolen[/name] nn [name]Gwen[/name]: Dread it, but how could I get a really nice, unusual name/nickname/middle name out of it?
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]: [name]Mary[/name] is a really modern, pretty name but it is a classic antique name, any suggestions on that one?
[name]Patricia[/name]: I don’t know what to think of this…???

My grandmothers:

[name]Debra[/name]: really dislike it.
[name]Marilyn[/name] [name]Sandra[/name]: This is the daughter of [name]Mary[/name], so it good be nice to honour both of them in the same name.
[name]Heather[/name] [name]Anne[/name]: She goes by [name]Anne[/name].

Please help! I need suggestions!!

I love so many of your options! [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is just gorgeous, and I really adore [name]Gwendolen[/name], too. If you don’t like [name]Gwen[/name], what about [name]Winnie[/name] or [name]Leni[/name]? Or even [name]Dylan[/name]/[name]Dolen[/name]? I know a little girl named [name]Gwendylan[/name], so the nn [name]Dylan[/name] makes perfect sense for it, to me.

I think you could do a variation of [name]Mary[/name], or [name]Anne[/name], to honor several of your grandmothers/great-grandmothers. Or you could even do [name]Mariana[/name] to honor [name]Mary[/name], [name]Marilyn[/name], and [name]Heather[/name]? Or what about their initials?

Or is there something that symbolizes your relationship with one of your grandmothers? The last gift my paternal grandmother gave me before she was laid to rest was a lily, so the name [name]Lily[/name] (and its many variants!) are very significant to me. I would love to use a [name]Lily[/name] name to honor her one day, and it’s my special way to honor her that no one else will have. I love that about lily. Maybe there’s something like that you could use? Her favorite color, her birthstone, her birth flower, if her favorite color translates well into a name (like [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Lavender[/name], [name]Gray[/name]/[name]Grey[/name], [name]Azure[/name], etc.?), or maybe if she as a horse-lover, you could use [name]Pippa[/name]/[name]Philippa[/name] or [name]Rosamund[/name]?

Good luck!

I like [name]Gwen[/name] standalone, actually. My mother has it as a MN and it does the whole simple one syllable middle name thing well without being as dull as [name]Grace[/name]/[name]Rose[/name]. It’s not stylish like [name]Wren[/name] is at the moment but it has a similar feel.

I also like [name]Gwyneira[/name] and [name]Gwyneth[/name] but Ms. Paltrow is sort of sitting all over [name]Gwyneth[/name] right now.

I like the spelling [name]Deborah[/name] more than [name]Debra[/name] - another idea could be spinning off from the meaning, [name]Bee[/name]? Honeybee is a bit much though. [name]Melisande[/name]? [name]Devorah[/name] has a strange middle sound in it but it’s interesting, as is [name]Devra[/name].

[name]Mary[/name] is pretty, I couldn’t use it but I really like it. It’s vintage and classic; I don’t know any under 30.

I love [name]Patricia[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] with the NN [name]Tricia[/name], [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Elle[/name].
