My grandmother passed away this year and she went by [name]Emma[/name] her whole life but her name was actually Guillema which I believe is Italian for [name]Wilhelmina[/name]. My husbands grandmother was [name]Helen[/name] and they were very close.
What do you think of [name]Willamina[/name] [name]Helen[/name]?
I think the spelling [name]Wil[/name]-HEL-mina with [name]Helen[/name] is overkill. Plus I love the nickname [name]Willa[/name] and the willa-mina spelling makes that super easy.
Granted we don’t know what the sex of our baby is until [name]November[/name]…but I’m busy making lists.
Personally, I would go with [name]Emma[/name] [name]Helen[/name]. If your grandmother went by [name]Emma[/name] her whole life, I feel like [name]Willamina[/name] to honor her is a stretch.
I like the idea of [name]Willa[/name] by itself actually. I’m a fan of subtle honorings, personally. [name]Willa[/name] [name]Helen[/name] is nice.
Perhaps something like [name]Willamina[/name] [name]Elena[/name], or [name]Willamina[/name] [name]Elaine[/name]. ([name]Elena[/name], and [name]Elaine[/name] are variants of [name]Helen[/name]). I also love the idea of [name]Emma[/name] [name]Helena[/name]. (prn He-lay-na)
Also, have you considered [name]Emmeline[/name]? I think [name]Emmeline[/name] is great way to honor your grand mother since it has both elements of [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Wilhelmina[/name].
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Helena[/name]/[name]Helen[/name] is nice.
Nope hubby insists if we use [name]Helen[/name] it stays [name]Helen[/name]. Which I understand. Honestly [name]Ellen[/name] from [name]Helen[/name] is more of a stretch than using [name]Willamina[/name] for Guillema.
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Helena[/name] or [name]Emelina[/name] [name]Helen[/name] I would love, but there’s something about [name]Willamina[/name] and [name]Wilhelmina[/name] I don’t like.
I vote [name]Willa[/name] [name]Helena[/name]. I know your hubby wants [name]Helen[/name] to stay intact, but by just adding the vowel you are keeping things even by having a ‘variation’ of both names. Its so pretty with so much meaning. Sigh.
While I don’t care for [name]Willamina[/name], it’s not my style, I think [name]Willamina[/name] [name]Helen[/name] is a nice name and lots of meaning. You could just call her [name]Willa[/name] for short or even [name]Mina[/name]. I do like the suggestion of [name]Willa[/name] [name]Helena[/name] though.
