[name_m]Hi[/name_m], y’all!
My partner’s mother passed away a few years ago. We would like to honor her, but I am really not a fan of the style of her name. Her given name was [name_f]JoAnn[/name_f] [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] and her last name was similar to Hornellison (some letters changed) and doesn’t offer much in the way of inspiration. Here’s a little breakdown to see if there are any spins on these names that you might suggest:
[name_u]Jo[/name_u] (I dislike this short version of her full name)
[name_f]Ann[/name_f] (This is my own middle name and I’ve never liked it)
[name_f]Peggy[/name_f] (Usually short for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]… Not a fan)
Hornellison ([name_u]Ellison[/name_u] or [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] are the only ones I’ve come up with that I like at all!)
I’m very into genealogy and have a good concept of other family names on her side, but she had a difficult relationship with her parents, each of whom had questionable relationships with their own parents, making it challenging to look to recent generations for a name to honor her side of the family. However, recent generations’ names are as follows:
[name_m]LeRoy[/name_m] [name_m]Eugene[/name_m]
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]
[name_m]Julius[/name_m]
[name_m]Dennis[/name_m]
[name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_u]Vernon[/name_u] [name_m]LeRoy[/name_m]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_f]Amy[/name_f] Luellen
As well, our last name rhymes with [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] and I am really struggling with cute nicknames that would sound silly if they were said in conjunction with the last name… For example, a name we love is [name_f]Frances[/name_f] nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. Sadly, I think [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] sounds a bit silly. I could never have predicted that little snag for all the names I’ve loved for years!
Boy, girl, and gender neutral suggestions would be totally welcome! I tend to like rare or less common names, with a flair for classics and contemporaries. Not a fan of most super modern spins, but I’m open-minded!
Thanks for reading!
