Honoring my mom

I am expecting in [name]November[/name] and we are not going to find out what we are having. My mom passed away 3 1/2 years ago and I want to get her name in there any way possible. But I want to add I’m just not getting the [name]Diane[/name] vibe as the fn. If I can’t come up with a different way my daughter will have [name]Diane[/name] as the mn. Can anyone think of a different version persay? Or even a way to get it into my son’s name if I should need to? Thanks!

What about [name]Diana[/name]?

[name]Deanne[/name]
[name]Deana[/name]/[name]Deanna[/name]
[name]Diana[/name]
[name]Dion[/name]
[name]Diantha[/name]
[name]Dayanna[/name]
[name]Diandra[/name]

You can go a symbolic route, though it might be out there for you, but the greek goddess [name]Artemis[/name] is the parallel of the roman goddess [name]Diana[/name]…

Well, [name]Diane[/name] as a middle name would be lovely! What first names are you considering?
And of course, you could do [name]Diana[/name]. And when you look up [name]Diana[/name] here on Nameberry, [name]Cynthia[/name] comes up as an alternative. I also thought that [name]Ariadne[/name] (prn [name]Air[/name]-ee-add-nee) would be an interesting choice, as it contains all the letters of [name]Diane[/name] (plus an A and an R…).

As for finding a version of [name]Diane[/name] to fit a son…well I think you should save [name]Diane[/name] for a daughter! Or, [name]Dean[/name] has most of [name]Diane[/name]'s letters, and a very similar sound. [name]Hope[/name] this helped! I think I was a bit all over the place!

I think most variations have been mentions, although [name]Dinah[/name] is pretty close imo. You could just use the [name]Ann[/name] part or [name]Ana[/name].
[name]Dianthe[/name] is a Greek version and [name]Kiana[/name] a Hawaiian.

[name]Diane[/name] means [name]Divine[/name] though and there are lots of names with the same meaning.
[name]Kami[/name] - Japanese ‘[name]Divine[/name] [name]Aura[/name]’
[name]Theola[/name] - Greek ‘[name]Divine[/name]’
[name]Leela[/name] - [name]Indian[/name] ‘[name]Divine[/name] [name]Drama[/name]’

It is also listed as having the similar meaning, ‘[name]Heavenly[/name].’
[name]Celeste[/name] - English ‘[name]Heavenly[/name]’
[name]Noelani[/name] - Hawaiian ‘[name]Heavenly[/name] girl’
[name]Lani[/name] - Hawaiian ‘heavenly’

Or something [name]Diana[/name] was goddess of, like the moon.
[name]Luna[/name] - [name]Moon[/name]
[name]Cynthia[/name] - [name]Goddess[/name] of the moon
[name]Neoma[/name] - New moon
[name]Selena[/name] - [name]Moon[/name]/[name]Goddess[/name] of the moon (Also, [name]Selene[/name]/[name]Celina[/name]/[name]Celene[/name]/[name]Selina[/name])

[name]Dane[/name] for a boy seems quite similar and would work nicely as a first or middle. You could spell it [name]Daine[/name] as well.

[name]Andie[/name] or [name]Dia[/name] ([name]DEE[/name]-uh)? What was your Mother’s middle and maiden names? Maybe those would work better.

What about
[name]Dinah[/name]
[name]Andi[/name]
[name]Anette[/name]
[name]Adina[/name]

Another girl’s name that I thought of is [name]Danielle[/name]/[name]Dani[/name]

I missed the boy part, but these came to my mind:
[name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Darian[/name]
[name]Darren[/name]

If it were me, I’d use [name]Diane[/name] for a girl’s middle name. It would be a great middle name as is. I’d probably honor someone else if it was a boy, because it would probably be most meaningful for a little girl to know she’s named after her grandma than it would be for a little boy. [name]Just[/name] my opinion. I love that you want to incorporate your mother’s name!

I agree with pps that [name]Diane[/name] would make a wonderful middle name!

[name]How[/name] about [name]Artemis[/name]?

I would use [name]Diane[/name] for the MN if it’s a girl. If your mom’s maiden name is usable, that’s how I would honor her for a boy.
