Honoring Nathaniel

Hey Berries!
So I posted on the “what would you name all girl quads” thread and it made me realize, what happens if I have all girls? [name_u]Honor[/name_u] names are so important to me. I have multiple honors for my mom and a couple influential, strong women, but I would really like to honor my brother. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s weird for a girl to have a middle name honoring her uncle?

Okay, so now it comes to my second question: what girl names honor the name [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]? All I can think of is [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], however, I hate that name (no offense to anyone who loves that name). The girl that bullied me in middle school was named [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]. So I’m never going to use it. I’m okay with honor names that are after him birth month, birth stone, and things he likes, but I’d prefer to use a name similar to him name.

Thank you for your help!

I don’t think it’s odd for a girl to have a name honouring an uncle

Nathaniel means ‘gift of god’, so does Thea/Theodora , in fact names with ‘dora’ in them all have some meaning of ‘gift’ eg. Eleodora - ‘gift of the sun’
Medora - ‘mother’s gift’
Isadora - ‘gift of Isis’

maybe more of a subtle link though x

What about [name_f]Tania[/name_f], [name_f]Natasha[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Danielle[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/Annie, [name_f]Anita[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]/Ellie or [name_u]Ariel[/name_u]?

My son is [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], after my dad. I always appreciate honor names! In my family, any name with the same first letter constitutes an honor name, but we only name after deceased relatives so perhaps the connection is more obvious. What, if any, nicknames does your brother use? What about [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]? Probably not a fan either. What about a name with “iel” in it like [name_f]Danielle[/name_f], [name_u]Ciel[/name_u], etc. [name_u]Or[/name_u] what about a name with “Han”like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]?

@Greyblue
I’m glad it doesn’t seem odd!
I love [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] and [name_f]Nadia[/name_f]! Adding them to the list! I could also grow to love [name_f]Natasha[/name_f]. Thanks :slight_smile:

@seawillow
[name_f]Annie[/name_f]/Anne would be perfect! I also like [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], especially the slightly masculine sound to it.
I’m so happy that it’s not completely unknown for a girl to have a fully masculine middle name. And I’m so glad that you grew to love it! Thank you!

@MargotAbeline
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]!!! :heart_eyes: [name_f]Eleodora[/name_f] is just gorgeous! Thank you so much!

@Estrela
Thank you! I love [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Elliana[/name_f]/Ellie, and [name_f]Tania[/name_f]! All added to the list!

@Dechen
[name_f]Nell[/name_f] is a great idea! I like that it’s unisex! Thanks!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] seeing other people use [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]! You never really see it anymore. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother mainly goes by [name_m]Nate[/name_m]. So maybe a name that starts with Nay? [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] still makes me think of [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], unfortunately, even though it’s such a pretty name. I like the idea of and -iel name. [name_u]Ciel[/name_u] is beautiful! Thank you!!!

I once knew a [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] who went by Than, which leads me to think that a girl named after a [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] could be Thanna, which would be such a distinctive honor middle name.

@Harvest-Endellion
I’m not understanding the connection between [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m]? [name_m]Can[/name_m] you please explain because I really like [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m]!

@Estrela
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Thalia[/name_f]! So pretty! [name_f]My[/name_f] cousin’s daughter’s name is Ath3na so can’t use that :confused: even though I love it! Thanks!

@CurlyC

@LynnG
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is gorgeous and [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is my grandma’s name so double honor! Thanks!
