Honour for David

I am not expecting anytime soon, but my father has recently passed, and while I dont usually consider honour names, I am curious about what we can come up with for him!

His full name is D@vid Don@ld Gust@ve (two middles.)
His birthday is July 19.
He was born in C@mrose, grew up in Pr1nce Ge0rge, and lived and died in Edm0nt0n.
He played football and basketball in high school.
He was an electrician.
He loved hunting, mostly deer but sometimes birds or moose.
He recently got two dogs, who were his joys.
He loved country music, rock music, and music from the 90s.
Heā€™s Christian.
He was a very handy guy and could figure how anything worked with a little help from youtube (but he would never say he was smart.)
He could be pessimistic and stubborn, but he was a very loving man who did so much for his family and friends.
He had a good sense of humour and was always teasing peopleā€“his family, friends, coworkers, even the elderly folks at church: noone was spared.
He was tall and broad with powerful arms, and he gave us physical and emotional strength.

Give me anything, from the obvious to the subtle, related to his name, his hobbies, his personalityā€¦ you are all so creative!

ETA: Any gender is okay for suggestions! Also, his favourite flower is sunflower, if that gives any inspiration.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_u]Dawson[/name_u] for Davidā€™s grandson. But I think your father sounds very much like a [name_u]David[/name_u]. Itā€™s such a handsome, timeless, international name that I would simply use [name_u]David[/name_u].

Iā€™m sorry to hear of his passing. Losing a parent is a difficult time (in a myriad of different ways depending on the relationship).

A few suggestions:

[name_u]August[/name_u] ā€œGusā€ D@vid (also a shout out to another of his names). I like this because the child would have his own name but the namesake is clear.

[name_m]Donovan[/name_m] Gust@ave ā€œDonnieā€ same as above only for the second name

Edm0nd [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] b/d place and where he lived the life you described and his hobbies.

Hopefully these help! :slight_smile:

I know this is in the boys section, but I adore [name_f]Davia[/name_f] for a girl.

@southern.maple I didnā€™t know [name_u]Dawson[/name_u] meant ā€œDavidā€™s son.ā€ Very cool!

@cms1512 Thank you, I like [name_u]August[/name_u] ā€œGus!ā€

@Victory55 [name_f]Davia[/name_f] is lovely!

[name_u]Davis[/name_u] [name_u]River[/name_u]. [name_u]Davis[/name_u] as an obvious namesake and [name_u]River[/name_u] as a nod to his time spent in nature.
