Honour Name?

Fellow name enthusiasts, thoughts! Would you associate the female [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] as an honour name for a male relative [name_m]Luis[/name_m]?

Probably not unless it was explained to me, I think [name_f]Luisa[/name_f] would be a better female alternative.

It would be fine to me. Most honor names would need a bit of explanation unless it’s in honor of immediate family. I think [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] would work fine. Also consider [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

It works. [name_m]Even[/name_m] better if your relative uses the Spanish pronunciation.

I think it’s fine. [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is my favourite of the names other posters have suggested anyway.

I think it works.

I truly appreciate everyone sharing their thoughts, thank you!

Yes, the older family members do use the Spanish pronunciation while the younger pronounce it as “[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]”. I agree it is easier to hear the connection to [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] with the Spanish.
