We’re expecting baby #4 in [name]August[/name], it’ll be our 2nd daughter & last child. I’d really like to use my [name]Nanny[/name]'s name as she passed away last year, her name was [name]Sarah[/name], but she was known as [name]Sadie[/name].
I don’t want to use it as a first name in its current form because I’m not big on diminutives as given names, and prefer longer names which can be shortened. [name]Sarah[/name] isn’t an option either as it’s my sister in laws name (although its a middle name option). So would like to either use it as a middle or find a longer form of [name]Sadie[/name].
We live near [name]London[/name] and I prefer classic but underused names, nothing with crazy spellings or ending in ‘lyn’ or ‘ley’.
Our surname begins with a W, 3 syllables and is the same as Mrs Doubtfire’s
I’ve been struggling to find a good longer name for [name]Sadie[/name] too! I’m afraid i’ve haven’t got very far so i’m not much help, sorry.
[name]Isadora[/name] is sublime with your other children’s names. Its such a beautiful, strong name. I like [name]Primrose[/name] but it feels a little frivilous as a first name with [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Nathaniel[/name]. [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] has lovely balance and flow, as long as you don’t mind repeating the [name]Rose[/name] sound of your daughter’s middle name. [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Violet[/name] or [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Poppy[/name] would also be lovely.
The only other thing i can think of to honour a [name]Sarah[/name]/[name]Sadie[/name] is [name]Seraphina[/name]. Failing that, [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Sadie[/name], [name]Florence[/name] [name]Sadie[/name], [name]Jemima[/name] [name]Sadie[/name],[name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Sadie[/name] or [name]Aurelie[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] sound wonderful to me.
I think [name]Isadora[/name] is a great way of getting [name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Cassandra[/name] or [name]Cassidy[/name] come to mind and I think both work well with your kids. [name]Cassandra[/name] might be a bit of a stretch though, but I think it works.
If she will be called [name]Sadie[/name], I would call her [name]Sadie[/name]. It is a well known name and stands on it’s own very well. I love your other kid’s names and think [name]Sadie[/name] would fit in perfectly.
Thanks, I really don’t want to use it as a first name as it is though, I like that my kids have long names which can be shortened (or not) as they choose. It was something that I really appreciated about my own name as I grew up and could reinvent myself with a more grown up name once I felt I’d outgrown my childhood nickname.
Back to the drawing board, H doesn’t like [name]Isadora[/name] (it reminds him of the program Wizadora) and he thinks [name]Primrose[/name] is pretentious.
Well, my latest obsession is nicknames that come from a smoosh of the first and middle names. For [name]Sadie[/name], You could find some S names you like, and ones that end in ‘-die’ and voila! A little [name]Sadie[/name]. Example: Samantha Elodie “[name]Sadie[/name]”
Haha, I really am into this idea, but it might not be your ideal way to honor [name]Sadie[/name]. I do think [name]Samantha[/name] would go with [name]Madeleine[/name] spectacularly.
I know this is like super late! I was just posting this for anyone else who might come across it! If you can see my username I go by sadie. My full name is [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], like the car. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a suggestion. It’s semi unique and I love it! Anyways, there are many spelling alternatives to that. I’ve known a few other mercedes’ in my life, so i would know, some people go crazy with it, mercadees, mersadies, and many more…so just a thought I hope this helped somebody!
There is one bad part…the dreaded middle name…mine is leigh…however my mom was fond of rose…but she didn’t think of it until after…one thing to remember watch out for initials! i’m glad she didn’t name my middle name rose because my initals would have been MRS. and i thought that would be a tad weird
