We like old retro names that won’t be making a comeback soon (ie. [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]). I think [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] has a cool retro feel, but also still unattainable by most.
I’m not really a fan, but I do think it fits your description of old retro that won’t be making a comeback soon… at least not on the level of [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]! I have heard it popping up hear and there, but haven’t heard of anyone settling on it yet. Serious [name_f]Pink[/name_f] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] fans might think of it…
I love love love [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]: it is on my own list as a middle name, but I would use it as a first in a heartbeat. In my eyes, it is utter perfection :): jazzy cool, slick, quirky, friendly and approachable.
I prefer [name_m]Clive[/name_m], Ashford or [name_u]Winslow[/name_u] along those lines. [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] has been a family name, but each of the Floyds w/the name have been embarrassed by it and used something else.
I see a tall man with greased back hair from the 50’s when I hear this name. Fits your bill [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I recently started loving [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]. I love the sound of the name and also that it is easy to spell but still sounds extraordinary.
