We have tons of boys names on our list, and I really like [name]Wesley[/name], but at the same time I find the beginning ([name]Wes[/name]-) slightly odd sounding, so I’ve been thinking of alternatives. I’m a huge harry potter nerd, so Weasley was the first I thought of. yeah i know it’s a surname, and from a “childish book series”, but still…does it work? I wouldn’t use it just because its in HP, but also as a alternative to [name]Wesley[/name] which i mentioned. surname will be [name]Dunn[/name], so Weasley [name]Dunn[/name]? What do you think??
and also, what are your fav spellings of these below;
[name]Cohen[/name] / Kohen / [name]Koen[/name]
[name]Cade[/name] / [name]Kade[/name] / [name]Cayde[/name] / [name]Kayde[/name]
[name]Grayson[/name] / [name]Greyson[/name]
[name]Kason[/name] / [name]Kasen[/name] / [name]Casen[/name]
No Weasley does not work because it sounds like weasle…I don’t like [name]Cohen[/name]…please don’t spell any of the names kree8tivlee…cason …really?that is and ingredient made out of cows stomach or something gross…you want to name your child that???[name]Cade[/name] just sounds incomplete to me…
I love the name [name]Wesley[/name]!
Weasley sounds like Weasel…which is not a good sound [name]IMO[/name].
From the list at bottom, I like [name]Grayson[/name] (spelled like this).
If you love [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name], then why not use the name [name]Potter[/name] or even [name]Harry[/name]? I like those a lot better than Weasley.
I still like Weasley, but yeah i have my doubts about this one. I can go crazy with middle names, but i don’t want my child’s first name to be too out there, which Weasley might be…and maybe a little too obvious. hmm…
Yeah, Weasley sounds like weasel and measly, both pretty bad associations. I actually really like the [name]Wes[/name] beginning and the nn [name]Wes[/name]! Would a name like [name]Weston[/name] help? There is less emphasis on the [name]Wes[/name] sound as its more of [name]West[/name]-on than [name]Wes[/name]-ley. Out of the other options, I like [name]Grayson[/name]/[name]Greyson[/name].
I wouldn’t use Weasley, it is too associated with the books even for a nickname. [name]Wesley[/name] is cute and I think it is a handsome name for a little boy and a grown adult.
[name]Cohen[/name] may cause some people to get angry. I don’t really like the name anyway.
The only other one I like from your list is [name]Grayson[/name].
Mollykat78- Are you referring to casein? Sorry, I was a nutrition major and just wanted to figure out if you meant that. [name]Cason[/name] does have similarities to that though so I wouldn’t use it.
When I pronounce [name]Wesley[/name] I say Wez-lee which I think sounds significantly better than [name]Wes[/name]-lee. They pronounce it Wez-lee on [name]Buffy[/name] and [name]Angel[/name] and the only child I know named this pronounces it that way too. Weasley it’s a terrible thing to stick a child with, sorry. I LOOOOOVE [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] and the Weasleys kick ass, but I mean they get teased for their last name in the books… weasel-king not ringing any bells? [name]Don[/name]'t do it. Seriously.
[name]Wesley[/name] [name]Dunn[/name] sounds great! but i also think of harry potter lol
[name]Cohen[/name]
[name]Cade[/name]
[name]Grayson[/name]
[name]Kason[/name] (one of my absolute favourites! lol i also really like [name]Kyson[/name])
Maybe you could spell it wezley? Though I know several do not like “unique spellings” it seems acceptable lately to put a z in more common names lately
I don’t like Weasley (sorry, though I do like my [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] movies). I actually like [name]Wes[/name]. My favorite is [name]Weston[/name] but [name]Wesley[/name] is fine too.
Weasley is way too tied to [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] and it’s actually a British term, not sure if it’s used anymore, but JK Rowling had a friend whom she had told: “You’re such a weasley guy” which is how [name]Ron[/name] was created… so I wouldn’t use it for that reason as well.
[name]Wesley[/name] is fine in my opinion.
I also wouldn’t use [name]Cohen[/name] unless your Jewish otherwise it’s considered offensive…
okay thanks everyone. won’t use weasley as a first name. i still like it and everything, but yeah it’s probably a bit too much to handle as a first name.
