I voted that it was “fine” because I too [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Aurora[/name]. (I also have an R heavy LN and it’s never been an issue I’ve considered).
I’m not psyched that it’s made it’s way above the 200 line but you know at 183 I probably shouldn’t be worrying about it too much.
Also I’m nowhere near naming a child so I probably shouldn’t worry about ranking too much right now.
currently my favorite nn’s are [name]Rory[/name], and [name]Ora[/name].
I love [name]Aurora[/name], and I think it’s fine with your last name.
I think it’s too heavy on the r’s. The sound of [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Richards[/name] reminds me of the late [name]Saturday[/name] [name]Night[/name] Live comedian [name]Gilda[/name] Radner imitating journalist [name]Barbara[/name] Wawa (aka [name]Barbara[/name] Walters). Sorry but when I saw the name and pronounced it out loud for the first time that’s the image that came to mind! When I said it about five times, my tongue was tripping up and I ended up sounding like lispy [name]Elmer[/name] Fudd. All of the r’s became w’s!
I think it actually sounds quite great together, the Rs are complimentary in both names, imo.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] but I do find your combo a bit hard to say. Sorry
No, it’s fine, lol. I think [name]Aurora[/name] R!ch@rds is pretty “R” heavy, too. But my friend kept saying that, so I figured I’d see what others thought. At this point, I would use [name]Arianne[/name] over [name]Aurora[/name] as a FN, anyway, but [name]Aurora[/name] is a kind of name I’d compromise with my future husband over. Besides, [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is still my top choice for a girl–I think wedging it between [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] makes it more usable for me. I don’t think this poll has really changed anything, just helped me to have some clarity. I dropped [name]Aurora[/name] as a FN just as I was truly starting to love [name]Arianne[/name], so I just don’t think I could do [name]Aurora[/name] over [name]Arianne[/name] anymore, not seeing how much I adore [name]Arianne[/name]. But it would be a good compromise name in the future, especially since it would probably sound better with my married name–I can’t imagine that you could get more “R” heavy than [name]Aurora[/name] R!ch@rds, haha.
It is very ‘R’ heavy but at the same time I’m not particularly put off by that. [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Richards[/name] looks fine and if you pronounce names properly and fully and not in a lazy manner than it’s quite easy to say/straightforward enough.
Plus, I love [name]Aurora[/name].
If you love the nickname [name]Ari[/name], why not [name]Ariana[/name]? It’s the feminization of [name]Ari[/name]. I love the name [name]Ariana[/name].
I actually like the repetition. It’s memorable.
For some reason I can picture a newscaster named [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Rich[/name]@rds!
I don’t think it’s that bad, but it’s possible that it won’t even be a problem when you actually do have kids, because by then you might have a husband and give your hypothetical daughter his last name, which may not be so “r” heavy. There’s no reason to strike a possible name you love from your list based on your maiden name unless you absolutely plan to give your daughter your maiden name. I actually did that myself back as a teenager. I always loved the name [name]Eve[/name], but it didn’t sound great with my one-syllable maiden name, so when making lists of possible daughters’ names, I would use [name]Eva[/name] (which I also liked, but not as much) instead. Now that I’m married, my married last name is still one syllable, but one that actually sounds just fine paired up with [name]Eve[/name]. You just never know, so I wouldn’t put too much stock on how your names sound with your maiden name, especially when it’s just for fun and all hypothetical.
This! All the names I ever loved are out the window now that I know the last name of my (hopefully) future children. I think it is a little R heavy, but not impossible to say or too “blendy” (Is that a word? LOL)
[name]True[/name]. And I was going to explain this earlier. But a good percentage of my family will be adopted (I always wanted a large family, and I really only want one or two of them to be biological), and for many, many personal reasons I don’t want to get into, I might adopt on my own. That’s why I actually posted this, I realize everything can (and probably will) change once I actually marry. If I adopt before I marry, it might become a concern for me, so I was just curious how usable others thought [name]Aurora[/name] was for me.
@jesse - Thanks for the suggestion. I do like [name]Ariana[/name], but as I stated previously in the post, [name]Arianne[/name] is very high up on my list (second pick, actually), so if I ever use an [name]Ari[/name] name, it’ll probably be [name]Arianne[/name] (which is similar to [name]Ariana[/name], anyway!). I do like [name]Ariana[/name] a lot, just not as much as [name]Arianne[/name].
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Aurora[/name], and I think it can work well with your last name. I do like the alliteration.
