[name]Angus[/name] [name]Stanley[/name]. Is it awful/nerdy/old/other negative attributes?
I love [name]Angus[/name] (I also like [name]Fergus[/name]) but the “s” runs into [name]Stanley[/name]. If [name]Stanley[/name] is a family name (or name of importance) than I wouldn’t let it bother me though. I give it a thumbs up!
I would do [name]Angus[/name] on its own or [name]Stanley[/name] on its own, but maybe not together? Paired with other middle names I don’t think they would sound nerdy, but they kind of do together.
I like it a lot. If I met somebody named [name]Angus[/name] [name]Stanley[/name], I would assume it was somebody over 60 though. That is not a bad thing though. It would be a pleasant surprise if it was a child.
I like both names, but not in that order. [name]Stanley[/name] [name]Angus[/name] works pretty, and doesn’t have that pesky blending “s” sounds.
I think it’s nice.
I love [name]Gus[/name]
The syllables running together a bit doesn’t bother me.
Where’s the beef? Sorry, hate it.
I agree with teacherma that it sounds better the other way around- [name]Stanley[/name] [name]Angus[/name]… I also like both names as standalone names.
It is a bit of a clunker. I agree that [name]Stanley[/name] [name]Angus[/name] flows better; [name]Angus[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] runs together.
I like both of the names on their own, but think that they don’t work well together.
[name]Stanley[/name] [name]Angus[/name] flows much better, but I’m not loving it. While I like the idea in theory, I feel it’s just too much of an old man name.
I really like it! Saying it a few times makes it grow on you. I also really like the nn [name]Gus[/name] for [name]Angus[/name].
[name]Stanley[/name] does have meaning for us, but I don’t love it as a first name. It would be middle only. Sorry, [name]Stanley[/name].
[name]Fergus[/name] would have the same problem as [name]Angus[/name] with running into [name]Stanley[/name]…[name]Do[/name] [name]Hugh[/name], [name]Eamonn[/name], [name]Cormac[/name], or [name]Ewan[/name] sound better with [name]Stanley[/name]?
I think any of these options would be an improvement over [name]Angus[/name] as far as nerdiness/flow is concerned . I especially like [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Stanley[/name], which gives you different numbers of syllables in each name. My second choice would be [name]Cormac[/name]. Each of those has the same Celtic spunk of [name]Angus[/name], but doesn’t present you with flow/nerdiness issues. [name]Ewan[/name] and [name]Eamonn[/name], whilst lovely names, sound more try-hard to me.
I’m due in [name]August[/name] and I’ve had [name]Angus[/name] on my list for years. I think [name]Angus[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] works but I really like [name]Ewan[/name] [name]Stanley[/name], if you want to keep the [name]Stanley[/name]. I had originally chosen [name]Aengus[/name] [name]Andrew[/name] for my baby but I changed it to [name]Aengus[/name] [name]Gunn[/name] because it had more family connection - [name]Gunn[/name] is my husband’s clan. Plus it put the people in my life who have told me they wouldn’t call him by [name]Aengus[/name] in their place, since no one wants to call a child [name]Gunn[/name], no matter the family connection. So I say go for it if you like [name]Angus[/name] [name]Stanley[/name]. [name]Remember[/name] that you’re the one who has to yell it out the door at dinnertime and if you love it, you won’t care about the ‘s’ sounds blending. Plus, if it makes you feel better, my oldest daughter is named [name]Maeve[/name] Fenna and people who only hear it and don’t see it end up thinking her first name is [name]Mae[/name] as the ‘ve’ in [name]Maeve[/name] blends with the ‘F’ in Fenna.
I don’t like the combo…Or [name]Stanley[/name], really but I do like [name]Angus[/name]!
The name nerd in me loves [name]Angus[/name] for it’s clunky, Irish-pub charm.
However, in RL I’d find it difficult. I really like [name]Stanley[/name] especially as a mn.
I think [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] or [name]Ewan[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] are much more wearable. ([name]Ewan[/name] is probably the front runner at least in the states but [name]Hugh[/name] is doable with [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Grant[/name] still traipsing around).
I think it’s kinda cute.
I dislike how the Ss flow together. I like [name]Stanley[/name] over [name]Angus[/name] because of the cow imagery that [name]Angus[/name] conjures for me. [name]Stanley[/name] is nerdy-cool to me. But the [name]Lee[/name] end makes me feel like it’s one celeb baby away from becoming a girl name!
[name]Stanley[/name] [name]Angus[/name] does sound better. [name]Angus[/name] doesn’t do anything for me, the only thing I think of is beef.
