Hello berries! I need help finding a name that I can shorten to Kite. For example Malachite. My other daughters have more mainstream names ([name]Lila[/name] pronounced [name]Lee[/name]-la and [name]Paloma[/name]) so I want something that’s not too different.
I actually had to google that word to find the meaning. I don’t see that as a problem. I knew an adult woman with the name Kite and she said she liked it and had no problems.
My first thought was [name]Kathleen[/name] or [name]Katherine[/name] which can shorten to [name]Kit[/name]- Kite isn’t that far off. You may be able to get away with [name]Katia[/name] nn Kite too.
Kite is cute but maybe too close to [name]Katie[/name]? Your daughter could be in for some mild flack for that. But I agree that [name]Katherine[/name] is a good choice if you are looking to have a suitable nickname of Kite. The only other option that seams feasible is Kitten… (yuck!!)
Thank you guys for your replies. [name]Katherine[/name] is great I didn’t think of that one. I feel like [name]Katherine[/name] does not go with our other girls at all.
Bonfireazalea- I love katia! We also have [name]Azalea[/name] on our list.
And I second [name]Katherine[/name] which can have [name]Kit[/name] so it’s just a teeny stretch further to Kite. Same with the [name]Chris[/name]- names. They can have [name]Kit[/name] too.
What about [name]Catherine[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name], or a variant thereof? If [name]Catherine[/name] can get [name]Kit[/name], [name]Kate[/name], and [name]Kitty[/name], and I went to school with a [name]Kate[/name] that got called “Cake” because our Spanish teacher couldn’t say [name]Kate[/name], so [name]Katherine[/name] nn Kite doesn’t seem to far-fetched to me! I think something like [name]Katerina[/name] would fit in really well with [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Paloma[/name].
I’ve always liked this name, sounds strong and feminine at the same time.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though it is pronounce na-KEE-ta, I think Kite is a reasonably nn for it.
