How can Paris sound classic?

[name_m]How[/name_m] can [name_u]Paris[/name_u] be made sound classic?
I have been taking a ‘don’t worry too much’ attitude about my need to Re-Name myself. I have posted previously explaining I suffered an accident ( 8 yrs ago) for which the trauma was triggered by my name.
It’s incredible the progress I have made. Part of me wants to try to resurrect it again but friends are not encouraging me in that direction for fear I could have a relapse. Some of my early dramas were memorable.
So think I might try sometime soon but to have a back- up name ready by then is a good plan, plus I am just plain sick of the issues with using [name_f]Raine[/name_f] (which I love ) but is from my surname [name_f]Raini[/name_f]…… I need to make some decisions.
The past few months I have been feeling some real affinity with name [name_u]Paris[/name_u]. The city has significance in my life. The name is just nothing like what I imagined. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] unless its /[name_f]Helen[/name_f]-a/ and not /he lay na/ - so not rhyming with [name_m]Rainer[/name_m]- are all out.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think there is a combo with [name_u]Paris[/name_u] (first or middle) that makes it sound classic, vintage, elegant or simply sweet? edited to add:stylish or demure? :-?
Could you please resist the temptation to answer No and make some suggestions? I’ve tried from [name_f]Jane[/name_f] to [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] to [name_f]Diana[/name_f] for an alternative first but none are right –it feels like I am missing something. I will be interested to see what you would think enhances [name_u]Paris[/name_u]. (My signature does not reflect any ‘me’ names unless you can see something, I can’t)
Thank you all.

I’m not sure if I read this 100% right because I don’t have my glasses and the world’s going fuzzy so apologies if I’ve misread/skipped over parts.

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] definitely has some classic in it, for what it’s worth. And [name_u]Paris[/name_u] does feel a little classic to me. I know you tried [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], but [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] [name_u]Paris[/name_u] is gorgeous, strong and timeless imo. Other names um…[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Paris[/name_u], [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_u]Paris[/name_u] (my friend has a rainbow baby named this nn [name_f]Iris[/name_f] which I think is just perfect), [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_u]Paris[/name_u], [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Paris[/name_u].

[name_f]Parisa[/name_f] is another option I suppose, I can’t remember the exact meaning (and I think it has a different one) but I remember liking it.

@kizzy_delgado - you’re a genius. Well your very inspiring- no I like ‘genius’ since you have no glasses.
I only put names with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] because it often seems to add something but sometimes seems a little [name_m]OTT[/name_m].
You have given me some serious considerations. I am really apprehensive about [name_u]Paris[/name_u] - I guess its not regular classic - but I can’t ignore that pull that is there for me without exploring it more.
So many thanks.i_i_m.

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] has Shakespearean ties, and of course the centuries-old city—I think that makes it feel classic and timeless in its own way. But I still see what you mean.

I love the previous poster’s suggestion of [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] [name_u]Paris[/name_u]!

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Annette[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]

I cannot thank you enough for looking at the positives with me. Its just the ‘you know what I mean’ factor. [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (almost sedate) all add a slightly different flavor and [name_f]Marie[/name_f]-[name_f]Odette[/name_f] was my GG-M’s name. T-you @ceryle, I_I_M

I don’t have any name suggestions, but I went to school with a girl called [name_u]Paris[/name_u] and it never came across as NOT stylish/sweet/classic. I think it entirely depends on how you wear the name, and if you’re feeling that affinity with it, the associations will follow.

That said, I love the suggestions of [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], though the second might be too much [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] for me personally!

I’ve known three women named [name_u]Paris[/name_u] in my life, and they were all very glamorous women.
I don’t think [name_u]Paris[/name_u] is a name I would consider to be ‘not classic’ but also it doesn’t fall into the ‘absolutely classic’ area. So I think [name_u]Paris[/name_u] can be considered ‘classic’ without it needing to be balanced by anything in particular, all the middle names do give it a different vibe, [name_u]Paris[/name_u] is distinctive yet familiar enough that it doesn’t need to be made ‘classic’.
It also makes me think of [name_u]Paris[/name_u] Geller in [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls, which isn’t a bad thing.

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (same play, so might be pushing it)
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_f]Margot[/name_f]/[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Maria[/name_f]

For some reason I really love [name_u]Paris[/name_u] ‘M name’. Not sure why though.

@nuttymuscle- your post was so valuable. Thank you for your keen insight.
and to you @maerad with similar advice. I see much more clearly that the name Paris can appeal in many ways. I was saying to DH that my associations are serenity and stability which come from my lifetime love of things I associate with Paris. e.g.from Le Louvre even to the way of life.
Thank you both for your comments.
I am overwhelmed that I have received so much help. Since this morning I have come to believe I really have taken big strides to making this new name decision and its now going to happen. As I have allowed myself to embrace it more, the name feels even better.
There is still so much to do to put everything into place but I have emotions of relief and calm, thinking that soon I will be totally focusing and enjoying children’s names - (hopefully mine too). Naming my daughter, now 6 months, was a struggle; and then others who ask for similar help renaming -and that’s just on Nameberry. The bigger picture is amazing.

Looking forward to any more name suggestions from Berries with different ideas. I_I_M.

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] sounds very chic and stylish to me - the sort of name you’d see on a fashionable, blonde-haired mum of around 30 in LA. But I can also see a sweet, pensive side.

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]*

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]

I actually love [name_u]Paris[/name_u]. I know at first glance, many people will think of [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_m]Hilton[/name_m], making it sound like a very modern Hollywood-type name, but I agree with others that it also has an old-school medieval vibe, and you could easily find an elegant-sounding middle name to reinforce that!

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Alethea[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f]

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (I think this was suggested already but I love it)
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Honora[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Letitia[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (or any variant really)
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Sigrid[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] would be absolutely gorgeous. [name_u]Paris[/name_u] sounds wonderful to me and if it’s the name that is resonating with you I think it’s a good sign.

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Rosanne[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] Noëlle

I’m imagining these said in a [name_m]French[/name_m] accent!

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] sounds classic to me, as a “new” classic… young people named after places, cities, etc. are not unusual at all nowadays. [name_u]London[/name_u], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_f]India[/name_f], etc… and of course [name_u]Paris[/name_u].

I like the suggestions for a mn that is feminine, with lots of vowels and softer consonants… so [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] fits that bill. Also:
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]
etc.

@fionnabhair -I can do a fairly authentic [name_m]French[/name_m] accent  Its noticeable that many of the names that pair well are [name_m]French[/name_m] in origin. [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] is beautiful, perhaps too much /s/ with [name_u]Paris[/name_u]?
@lemondrops - I love [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] too, but maybe a bit too [name_m]OTT[/name_m] or Shakespearean?
Thanks so much for your encouragement. I am ready to sign up.
@morning_glory – It’ going to have to be slightly more of the sweet & pensive; nerdy, (wind-blown) auburn haired Mom on a beach somewhere. [name_m]Even[/name_m] that sounds way too alluring. Loving [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f].
@seanahaidh – “an old-school medieval vibe, and you could easily find an elegant-sounding middle name to reinforce that!” –you have understood me very well. I do love [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] but I don’t think that it’s going to achieve the purpose. [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], however, as suggested previously, is really in contention.
@mimiottawa – that’s a lovely selection of middles – It makes me feel ‘kinda’ humble to think of being named after the [name_m]French[/name_m] capital. At 31, I am not so young, but you have made me think of my parent’s reaction. To find a name that makes me feel whole again will be their first concern but even my Mom’s usually ‘a little too sophisticated taste’ may be appeased and my father, like me, loves the soul of the city.
I cannot thank you all enough for your support, encouragement and suggestions.
