how careful do i have to be?

I know this probably sounds a bit silly, but we’re ttc at the moment and during the 2ww i’m always worried about my 15month old climbing all over me and pressing or kicking etc on my stomach. Its just normal, active toddler behaviour and i don’t want to tell her she can’t touch me or anything but i do worry that if there is a baby in there, it might be harmed. Obviously, once the baby gets bigger it has less padding and is therefore more vunerable, but how careful do i need to be in early pregnancy with a rambunctious toddler around?

Not at all careful until you have a visible bump and palpable baby, and even then… not that careful.

I’m no doctor, but I agree with [name]Blade[/name]. It’d take a hell of a wallop from your toddler to cause an unborn baby any harm.

There is no way your toddler would be able to harm your unborn baby at any time during pregnancy. It is well protected in your womb. The only time the baby could be injured is if you fell down a flight of stairs, got in a car accident, someone beat you, or some other traumatic incident like that. You yourself would have to be pretty seriously hurt for the baby to be affected.

Thank you guys- i really do feel a bit silly for asking! Thanks for putting my mind at rest though, that’s one less thing to worry about!

I asked my midwife the same question about my dog/cats jumping on my belly during pregnancy, and she explained that our bodies are designed to protect the baby and it has a lot of padding in there, so not to be too concerned about it.
