Is it weird if they both have the same first letter? What if they are each one syllable.
Would it be better if the styles matched, or were completely different? Maybe just some what similar. What do you think?
I think it depends entirely on the names. I usually prefer similar style vs. same letter, but I think either could work just fine.
I did know a set named [name]Maisy[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name] though - wasn’t a fan!
I think it changes from person to person. I know several twins with extremely matchy names, similar names, and very different names. I think it’s cute for the letters to match. If I had twin girls I would reverse initials: [name]Clara[/name] [name]Leonie[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] so there names connect but in a subtle way so they still retain some individuality.
[name]Do[/name] you have specific examples in mind? I don’t think there are hard and fast rules. Nothing wrong with each being one syllable, or starting with the same letter, in my opinion. [name]Just[/name] as with any sibset, I would not select dramatically different styles, lengths or syllable count.
I’m a twin and my sister and I have completely different initials. I’m [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Marie[/name] & my twin is [name]Sabrina[/name] [name]Desiree[/name].
I don’t think there is anything wrong with having the same letter for their names. My parents disagreed on this, my mum wanted us to have the same initials but my dad said no way…dad won in the end!
Other twins I know: [name]Alison[/name] & [name]Belinda[/name], [name]Rachel[/name] & [name]Natasha[/name], Camillus & [name]Clement[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name] & [name]Emily[/name], [name]Leanne[/name] & [name]Rachael[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Leonie[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] are absolutely adorable. That is super cute.
Specific examples for my twins are.
[name]Mae[/name] and [name]Megan[/name] ([name]Meg[/name])
[name]Mae[/name] and [name]Joy[/name]
Or the drastically different
[name]May[/name] [name]Maribelle[/name]
[name]Laurie[/name] [name]Jo[/name]
But since there middle names wouldn’t be used as much. [name]May[/name] and [name]Laurie[/name] sounds pretty good.
We also like.
[name]Cora[/name] and [name]Casey[/name]
or opposite syllables
[name]Mae[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Just[/name] what my husband and I have put together.
[name]May[/name] and [name]Laurie[/name] sound very sweet together. I think [name]Mae[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Gwendolyn[/name] [name]Marie[/name] are absolutely gorgeous together!
I think [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Joy[/name] are very cute together. I’m more a fan of twin names with the same length (regardless of syllables) like [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] or [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Tess[/name].
A one letter difference would be too close, like [name]Maisy[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name], as mentioned by nytx.
I think the style of the names should go together in some way. It would be a little weird if one twin has a vintage name and the other has a trendy / yoonek name.
I’m not too particular about the syllables or initial, unless it is a one-syllable name and a four-syllable name.
