How do you feel about Aslan? Do you think Narnia right off?

I’m thinking it could be a cool middle name but I saw some variations like: Aslin and Azlan.

I do realize it is the name from Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name], but I want to hear some thoughts on it…replies appreciated.

What a cool idea! I do think right away of Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name], but I don’t know that it is a bad thing, unless you really don’t want people thinking about that when they hear your son’s name. I am also a pretty big fan of the books, though, so I’ll be interested to hear what some other people who aren’t as familiar with the books think about it. [name]Do[/name] you have a first name picked out?

Well I’m not having a baby quite yet but every once in a while I think of stuff and I like to get ideas on them…but that may be why I never get many replies so I appreciate yours!

By the way two names I really like for a first are either [name]River[/name] or [name]Phoenix[/name] which do you think sounds better with Aslan?

I like [name]River[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] and C. S. [name]Lewis[/name] books too! I think Aslan works better as a first name to [name]River[/name] or [name]Phoenix[/name]. It just flows better. However, I might be a bit concerned that Aslan is a teaseable name.

Hmmm… I think [name]Phoenix[/name] Aslan is hard to say, so I guess I would say [name]River[/name] is better than [name]Phoenix[/name].

[name]Hi[/name]!! I love Aslan. I do think of [name]Narnia[/name], but that’s part of the charm [name]IMO[/name]. I agree that [name]Phoenix[/name] Aslan is a bit difficult to say, [name]River[/name] Aslan sounds better.

I do think of [name]Narnia[/name] right off, but since you’re considering it as a middle name I don’t that’s nearly as much of an issue as with a first name. Are you a big fan of the [name]Narnia[/name] books? What draws you to the name? [name]How[/name] will you explain the choice to your son someday? I’m not saying it’s a bad connotation at all, I just think it’s important to think it through from every angle. It’s hard to say how a person would feel about having that middle name for themselves. The only association I can make is that I went to high school with a girl who’s middle name was [name]Arwen[/name] (from [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings) and she definitely didn’t appreciate having that middle name.

Well that name means lion and I think kind of a king way most people do I would assume. I just think it has a powerful meaning. The books are good as well and think of Aslan in that moving he is important to the movie…and I am beyond a movie fanatic so when kid time comes they’re going to know their mom is just that way

My friend named her dog Aslan, after the [name]Narnia[/name] character. I had never heard the name before that, so that’s what I associate it with. I think people will either know the reference or else they’ll just think it’s an unusual (but not bad) name.

I think [name]Narnia[/name] straight away (and also, lions). I don’t know if you have considered this angle, but the Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name] are very [name]Christian[/name]. Aslan is the [name]Son[/name] of the Emperor Over Seas. In some of the books he transforms into a lamb and in the last book it is stated that he transforms and no longer looks like a lion. In one of the books he dies for the sins of one of the characters but is resurrected because of his innocence. When the children are sent home from [name]Narnia[/name] they are told that they are old enough to learn the form that Aslan takes in their own world. Aslan is pretty obviously supposed to be another form of [name]Jesus[/name].

So naming your son Aslan would kind of be like naming your son [name]Jesus[/name]. It’s a bit intense - which is ok as long as you’re aware of the connotations. Some Christians might be delighted by the name choice but others might be offended.

Aslan is an actual Turkish name- means [name]Lion[/name]. I like it, but I think [name]River[/name] or [name]Phoenix[/name] make it a little too movie-centric.

I would just assume the parent was a huge [name]Narnia[/name] fan.

I actually have a neice named Azlan [name]Petra[/name]; its a offbeat name, but she loves her name.

Me, too.

me three.
