The girl name my husband and I have had picked out for ages is [name_u]Sable[/name_u].
We love it, but as part of my due diligence, I’d love to hear what your reactions to hearing it are. I wouldn’t want to slap my kid with something that people are going to react negatively to and I know that [name_u]Sable[/name_u] is a little bit out there for some people.

It reminds me of sabers because the [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] word for saber is sabel.

I like it! It’s got all the whimsy and sweet sound of [name_u]Fable[/name_u] but feels a bit fiercer. I always picture sand dunes when I hear it because it’s the [name_u]French[/name_u] word for “sand”.

I would think of the animal & soap opera. Very [name_u]Southern[/name_u], hunter sort of vibes. I would react negatively- NMS.

My first thought is sable cookies which are really good. [name_u]Sable[/name_u] as a name is nms but I could imagine it on a child. [name_u]Sable[/name_u] has a light yellow/ orangey feel.
Sable is on our list too. I think it has such familiar sounds but feels fresh.
I agree with @lateaugust that it could age well too. I know there is the animal sable but I think they are cute so I’m not bothered by that.
We fell in love with it through Animal Crossing after reading it so many times it grew on me and my fiancée.
I love [name_u]Sable[/name_u]! It’s in the middle name spot for several of our combos. I think it’s a beautiful name that evokes wonderful imagery.

I’ve loved [name_u]Sable[/name_u] since it was introduced to me through the Animal Crossing character when I was a kid! She’s a cute hedgehog who runs the clothing store in the game with her sister [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. [name_u]Sable[/name_u] is warm and sweet and different, but still familiar to names like [name_u]Fable[/name_u].
