First off thank you to everyone that suggested names to us, it really helped us get a short list together.
My husband has settled on the name [name]Brenna[/name], I’m on the fence about it. (There are other names I like more honestly!) I like the spelling [name]Brynna[/name] but he does not. After Googling it I see that some people pronounce the names differently, which I can see but honestly with my accent they get pronounced the same whether it’s a short I or a short E. I’m worried about [name]Brenna[/name] getting mistaken for [name]Breanna[/name] or [name]Brenda[/name], but I don’t know if there will be a similar problem with the [name]Brynna[/name] spelling. So what do you all think? Which do you like better [name]Brenna[/name] or [name]Brynna[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you like the name? Does it go well with my son’s name, [name]Camden[/name] [name]Finn[/name]?
Thanks for any feedback Berries, I really appreciate it! Girls names are so hard for me!!
[name]Brynna[/name] seems to be closer to the Welsh name for [name]Hill[/name], while [name]Brenna[/name] seems to be Gaelic for [name]Raven[/name] or dark haired. I think I prefer [name]Brenna[/name] because it has the nicer meaning and also looks less trendy. I like the pronunciation of [name]Brenna[/name] better.
Well I pronounce [name]Brenna[/name] (Brehna) and [name]Brynna[/name] ([name]Brinna[/name]) so if you want the short I sound, I would go with [name]Brynna[/name]. I think it is a cute name and goes well with your son’s name. I also think the [name]Brynna[/name] spelling looks better [name]IMO[/name] and would be less confusing for people to pronounce.
I do like the name [name]Brenna[/name]. My friend’s name is [name]Brenna[/name] and I’ve never heard her get it mistaken for another name. [name]Brenna[/name] is my favorite spelling of the name. [name]Camden[/name] and [name]Brenna[/name] go really well together too!
I’ve loved [name]Brenna[/name] for a long time, but I too have the fear of it being mistaken for [name]Brenda[/name]. If others on here are saying that the similarity to [name]Brenda[/name] won’t be a problem, then I vote for the [name]Brenna[/name] spelling. You may also like [name]Britta[/name] or [name]Brissa[/name].
Based on how I pronounce them, I like [name]Brenna[/name] better. [name]Brynna[/name] (rhyming with [name]Lynn[/name]-a) sounds and looks trendy to me, while [name]Brenna[/name] (rhyming with Men-a, excuse the horrible comparison!) is much more classic sounding and looking.
I love the name [name]Brynn[/name] (as well as the original Welsh [name]Bryn[/name]), but much prefer [name]Brenna[/name] to [name]Brynna[/name]. [name]Brenna[/name] has a beautiful pronunciation and an elegant feel, whereas [name]Brynna[/name], to me, sounds like someone tacked an A on the end of a beautiful, classic name. [name]Brenna[/name] is completely different from [name]Breanna[/name] in my mind, and not even remotely related to [name]Brenda[/name]. I would go with [name]Brenna[/name], which is just a lovely choice.
My little one is [name]Brenna[/name] and it was my husband’s choice as well. I was shooting for [name]Nora[/name] but it got knocked down… maybe for the best cause [name]Nora[/name] is now mega popular here, and my little one couldn’t be more of a [name]Brenna[/name]
She is 2 and has never been mistaken for a [name]Brenda[/name]. However, we get [name]Brianna[/name] ALL the time at the doctor’s. It’s so irritating because, to me, [name]Brenna[/name] is so easy and phonetically spelled!! Ugghh… but its really only at the doctors. No one questions it when we tell them her name for the first time. I totally recommend [name]Brenna[/name], as we are super happy with our darling [name]Brenna[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
I like the [name]Brynna[/name] spelling better even though it looks trend. I would pronounce [name]Brynna[/name] as brin-na. While I pronounce [name]Brenna[/name], as rhyming with [name]Jenna[/name], [name]Bren[/name]-na.
I think that [name]Brenna[/name] will be confused with [name]Brenda[/name] often times. Some may even assume that it’s a misspelling of [name]Brenda[/name].
I think the [name]Camden[/name] [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Brenna[/name]/ [name]Brynna[/name] go well together as they both share an “en” sound. This shared trait is more obvious with the [name]Brenna[/name] spelling. Camden & Brenna.
