I always like the name [name]Rose[/name], but it’s too plain. Then I found out [name]Rosalie[/name], and it can be shorted to [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Rosie[/name].
[name]How[/name] do you like it? Compared with my current top 1 [name]Charlotte[/name], which do you prefer?
I love, love, love [name]Rosalie[/name]! I’ve loved it since college, way before Twilight, and that’s my only concern about the name, that people will assume I got the idea from the books. I have a friend [name]Rosalie[/name], 30-ish now, and she goes by [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Ro[/name] a lot. Or [name]Rosalie[/name] in full. So you have lots of nn options.
As for [name]Rosalie[/name] vs. [name]Charlotte[/name], I think that [name]Charlotte[/name] is more popular and poised to become even more popular, if the talk about it on this site is any indication. [name]Rosalie[/name] has only been in the SSA top 1000 once in the past 10 years, appearing for the first time in 2009 at 840. We’ll see next week when the 2010 list comes out how much it’s gone up. [name]Charlotte[/name], on the other hand, keeps climbing up the charts, going from 307 in 1999 to 68 in 2009. My guess is it will be a top 50 name in 2010. So if popularity is an issue for you, [name]Rosalie[/name] wins hands down.
I think they’re both lovely names but I’d be way more excited to meet a little [name]Rosalie[/name] than a little [name]Charlotte[/name].
I adore [name]Rosalie[/name]! I don’t care about Twilight associations anymore - it stopped me from initially using [name]Edward[/name] in my sons name, so for the first year, he was just [name]Caleb[/name] [name]James[/name]. I went through changing his last name when he turned 1 and decided to go ahead and add it because it’s a family name and I always regretted not using it.
Anyway, to stop rambling, I love [name]Rosalie[/name] and especially love it over [name]Charlotte[/name]. I’ve never been a big fan of [name]Charlotte[/name] anyway, and [name]Rosalie[/name] is way prettier in my opinion.
I love, love, love [name]Rosalie[/name] - it’s a new addition to my list
And I love [name]Charlotte[/name] too, although just a little more than [name]Rosalie[/name] (it’s been on my list longer.)
I suppose if popularity is an issue for you, [name]Rosalie[/name] would be a better pick - but imo, [name]Charlotte[/name] is classic and will always be in style, like [name]Elizabeth[/name].
Anyways, good luck! You can’t go wrong with either one.
I love [name]Rosalie[/name]!! it’s a Beautiful name, I like [name]Charlotte[/name] too but I’m not as fond of [name]Char[/name] as a nickname as I would be with [name]Rose[/name] …
[name]Both[/name] are beautiful names & good choices … Good [name]Luck[/name]
The SSA rankings are out and [name]Charlotte[/name] did indeed enter the top 50 in 2010–it’s at #45. [name]Rosalie[/name] jumped up too, from 837 in 2009 to 590 in 2010. So they’re both increasing in popularity. I still love [name]Rosalie[/name] better, but I worry that the rapid climb (if it continues in the next couple of years) will make it feel dated down the road.
