I’m having our first baby in [name]October[/name] and [name]Margot[/name] is one of the few names both DH and I really like. But I’ve heard conflicting opinions about the name. I like it because it’s classic, not really popular but not too out there, and it sounds (to my ears) relatively fresh and modern with the ‘O’ ending.
But how do you picture a little [name]Margot[/name]? I’ve heard some people say it’s sounds snooty, which is definitely not what we’re going for!
I imagine a young [name]Margot[/name] to be lively, tomboyish, spunky and a bit mischievous. I picture a more mature [name]Margot[/name] to be stylish, sophisticated, creative, quirky and full of personality. The name has a certain sparkle to it which I find very appealing!
I know a 5-year-old [name]Margot[/name], she is home-schooled and very well behaved. She is blonde and just plain adorable! She loves to play with her sisters and friends, and loves crafts and stories.
She is all I think of when I think of the name [name]Margot[/name].
I hardly see [name]Margot[/name] as a “snooty name” myself. I’d say it’s more refreshing yet sensible. I imagine a [name]Margot[/name] to be a bit of a bookworm, a little introverted, but by no means withdrawn. Polite, patient, and creative are other traits that come to mind.
I love [name]Margot[/name]! I don’t think it’s snooty at all. Now, if you were going to spell it Margeux or some other fancy French spelling, it might be pretentious. Lol when I was 4 I had a dog named Margeux. (I’m not saying that all French spellings are pretentious. Anyway, before I put my foot deeper into my mouth…) [name]Margot[/name] is very pretty. It also reminds me of the rebellious and spunky [name]Margot[/name] [name]Roth[/name] Spieglman from the brilliant book Paper Towns.
refreshing yet sensible is a good way to put it. I don’t see it as snooty, at the worst I see it as the name of someone who’s a bit of a perfectionist. I guess because it has the practical side of [name]Margaret[/name] and the fancier/artsy side of the fresher ending.
I’ve never known anyone with the name myself though.
