How do you pronounce Bea?

I’ve heard it pronounced [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-uh and I thought it sounded beautiful!! Not too keen on the [name_f]Bee[/name_f] pronunciation, how would you pronounce it?

I would pronounce it [name_f]Bee[/name_f], but [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-a is gorgeous!

I say [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-uh but I’ve met someone who pronounces it [name_f]Bee[/name_f] and now that seems normal too.
I also say [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-uh too sometimes! They all work for me!

I used to pronounce it bee-uh because that’s how I would read it. But whenever I’d hear [name_f]Bea[/name_f] spoken, it was always pronounced bee, so that’s how I instinctively pronounce it now.

‘[name_f]Bee[/name_f]’, but thats just because its how my sister pronounces it :slight_smile:

I say [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-uh like the start of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], but I’ve seen it as “just” [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. I’ve never heard [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-uh, but it would be easy for me to be corrected

I pronounce it “bee”. I hadn’t heard it pronounced “bay-uh” until last week, but I agree, it is pretty. I would never think to pronounce it “bay-uh” just from seeing it, though.

I’m in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_m]York[/name_m] if that matters, but in [name_f]English[/name_f], I would say [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-uh unless told otherwise. In Spanish I’d say [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-uh

I only like this spelling when pronounced bee-uh or bay-uh. For the bee pronunciation, I much prefer it spelt [name_f]Bee[/name_f].

I prefer the [name_f]Bee[/name_f] pronunciation (it’s so cute!), but I would probably assume bay-a.

I would assume “bee” in [name_f]English[/name_f] and BEH-a/BAY-a in other languages.

If you want the BAY-a pronunciation, I think the spelling Béa might make it a bit more obvious.

Like others, I always thought it was bee-uh but I’ve only ever heard it pronounced like [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. I’ve never heard bay-ah but that’s pretty!

Bee-uh. Didn’t know anyone said [name_f]Bee[/name_f] till I watched Friends, and never heard bay-uh. I still prefer my pronunciation.
